Meet the New Authoritarian Masters of the Internet
Breitbart ^ | 29 Sep 2016 | John Hayward

Posted on 09/29/2016 5:54:24 AM PDT by detective

President Barack Obama’s drive to hand off control of Internet domains to a foreign multi-national operation will give some very unpleasant regimes equal say over the future of online speech and commerce.

In fact, they are likely to have much more influence than America, because they will collectively push hard for a more tightly controlled Internet, and they are known for aggressively using political and economic pressure to get what they want.

Here’s a look at some of the regimes that will begin shaping the future of the Internet in just a few days, if President Obama gets his way.

Obama betrays America.

The internet surrender is simply treason.

Among other things...

Goodbye free speech

Goodbye political dissent and criticism

Goodbye internet gun and ammunition sales

Finally, the Stalinesque complete control of one’s adversaries can be achieved. Finally, the progs can silence all dissent across the globe. What a happy day for them.

Depending on how this shakes out, we may have to build a new, private Internet. Think of it as a 21st century CompuServe or AOL.

We have managed to elect a Republican majority in Congress who works hard to stop the workings of this traitor, not to worry, our GOP would never capitulate to this treason...

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)

https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/what-icann-does-22jun12-en.pdf

Figuring out who handles what in the Internet ecosystem can be tricky. Some people think that ICANN is the organization that “runs the Internet,” but the fact is that ICANN plays a high-level, important but limited role in how the Internet is organized.

Here’s how it works. To reach another person on the Internet you have to give your computer a destination – usually entered as a name or number. That destination has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn’t have one global Internet.

Humans prefer to find desired web addresses and email addresses by name (such as “icann.org.”) But computers know each other by numbers, or Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. ICANN helps coordinate the Domain Name System (DNS), often referred to as “the phone!book of the Internet” because it matches domain names with appropriate IP address numbers. ICANN also operates part of the DNS, and manages IP addresses and other protocol numbers.

********************************************************

My comment: I note that ICANN has until this point been a friend to us the users of the internet. But all that can be changed as the group put in control of the above are organized around a ‘global’ entity that is unelected and unresponsive to the needs and habits of the users.

In sum, this is Obama taking internet control away from Americans and all that that entails.

You are so correct.

And the people that can achieve that construction can attract a billion+ people away from the future model of censorship.

There are already alternatives that exist.

Re your photo, post #3: Obama meant for the title of that book to be seen. It’s a lot like his single finger Islamic gang salute. He spreads around messages that he’s working against the system, the Man.

To use a basketball statement, “in our face!”

There may come a day we can safely remand control of Internet domains to an international body, but that day is most certainly not October 1, 2016.

I see nothing that suggests even in the future, that day would or should come.

Depending on how this shakes out, we may have to build a new, private Internet.

Dust off your old Hayes or Multi Tech 19,200kbps modem. It's back to the ol' BBS boys.

I loved my old MultiTech. They made the first NON-SOFTWARE internal PCI modem (56K bps). But I started out with a 150baud acoustic coupler modem and a Coleco Adam 300 baud internal modem. Of course, nothing like an serial external USRobotics Courier for holding a line. The sysop’s favorite. Wildcat? Fidonet? Anybody?

I admit that handing over the control of the domain names to a for an into tea is stupid. But we have to remember it is software and software can be changed. In a very short time an entirely new domain name resolution solution could be set up we could be totally bypassing the globalists. It really is as simple as mapping a text domain name like “www.hillaryeatebabies.org” URL to an IP address number like “111.222.123.111”.

That’s it, it is not rocket science. The real work comes in propagating the domain name/ip address mapping out to the Internet so that computers don’t always have to reach back to a single ICANN server to do the mapping, legal domain registration, property rights, legal issues, who makes money, that kind of crap.

Well, if this crap goes down (and for some reason, Trump DOESN’T immediately just take it back), we’ll probably have a few years to get all that set up before the globalists can really start clamping down.

Well, guys — did the budget deal get ramrodded through?

I’ve been off the grid — phone line at home messed up and drove to a hotspot today.

Talk radio drove me nuts yesterday with a media blackout.

The problem is demonstrated with Trump. The alternative media is about to counter the mainstream media’s message.

They have to get control of that.

I imagine places like Breitbart will disappear.

Keep it to the forum:

https://techcrunch.com/2016/03/13/building-a-brand-new-internet

The long and short is that the internet born from DARPA’s ARPANET was abandoned by the military and intelligence networks as being fundamentally non-secure on its face; it still is although security technology and schemes have advanced, the technology race with the current infrastructure never ends. It is analogous to the battle medical technologists wage against mutating bacteria; the battle is forever.

The above link reveals underworkings of a new internet that is fundamentally secure, the ‘cure’ so to speak although the term ‘cure’ has yet to be proven.

The AGN and SDN technologies will necessitate new infrastructure without ICANN-like control so that today’s existing internet workings become obsolete. The new administrative bodies that replace ICANN might follow a Block Chain modality. The transition of the population need not be difficult. Those with Wifi capability might easily connect their devices to the new internet infrastructure with perhaps a simple USB dongle of sorts that can communicate in conformance with new protocols.

Thus, although it appears sinister to see America’s innovation be handed off to unfriendly powers who will no doubt move to learn how to lock out unfavored domains, etc., the emergence of a new internet infrastructure with a new friendly and trusted administrative body can fill the need for people to get what they want, when they want, where they want.

Eventually, the establishment media and the globalists that fund and control them will toss in the towel as they fail to be the sole source in controlling the dissemination of information to the masses. Those who fall into the category of lusting to control human populations will have to learn new tricks persuading those that are able to see new vulnerabilities leading to new opportunities for control. Rulers are fundamentally very insecure persons. The only thing they can offer is to share power or to share in the spoils. But that might fade and become more difficult to attract the people capable of learning new tricks to controlling populations.

The only thing that can stop the new digital age of awareness from continuing to grow around the globe is a world war with an attendant crack down on all digital and wireless communications. Such an event may very well stem from a conflagration among such powers that strive to control the distribution of ‘awareness’ information. That is the pessimistic view. The optimistic and more likely view is that the ‘Age of Awareness’ will continue growing to a full bloom. But we can bet there will be nasty fights along the way of this more likely outcome.
