Debate moderator Lester Holt repeatedly challenged Donald Trump during Monday nights highly anticipated debate, but refrained from going after Hillary Clinton in the same aggressive manner. Holt also minimized the Democrats e-mail scandal. It was only brought up because Trump did so.
Instead, the NBC Nightly News anchor promoted the historic nature of Clintons candidacy, demanding, Mr. Trump, this year Secretary Clinton became the first woman nominated for president by a major party. Earlier this month you said she doesn't have, quote, 'a presidential look.' She's standing here right now. What did you mean by that?
He then followed-up, reminding, The quote was 'I just don't think she has the presidential look.'" The moderator certainly showed a dogged determination in getting answers when it came to Trump. On the birther issue, he repeatedly grilled:
HOLT: Mr. Trump, for five years, you perpetuated a false claim that the nation's first black president was not a natural born citizen. You questioned his legitimacy. In the last couple of weeks, you acknowledge what most Americans have accepted for years: the President was born in the United States. Can you tell us what took you so long?
...
HOLT: The birth certificate was produced in 2011. You continued to tell the story and question the President's legitimacy in 2012, 13, 14, 15, as recently as January. So, the question is what changed your mind?
Yet, there were no questions about the Clinton Foundation. No questions about Clintons health. The e-mail scandal came up only because of Trump. He attacked, I will release my tax returns, against my lawyer's wishes, when she releases her 33,000 e-mails that have been deleted.
This prompted Holt to meekly ask Clinton: He also raised the issue of your e-mails. You want to respond to that? There was no follow-up after that.
When the subject came to security, there was no analysis of Clintons judgment on Libya, Benghazi or Iraq. Instead, it was Trump who got hammered:
HOLT: Mr. Trump, with a lot of these are judgment questions. You had supported the war in Iraq before the invasion. What makes your judgment
TRUMP: I did not support the war in Iraq.
HOLT: 2002
TRUMP: That is a mainstream media nonsense put out by her because she frankly I think the best person in her campaign is mainstream media.
HOLT: My question is since you supported it, why is your judgment
TRUMP: Would you like to hear? I was against wait a minute. I was against the war in Iraq. Just so you put it out.
HOLT: The record shows otherwise.
Prior to the debate, the Clinton campaign repeatedly worked the refs to get tougher questions for Trump. In the case of Lester Holt, the strategy worked.
A transcript of all the questions can be found below:
Full text of questions here:
I posted another thread, which was a vanity, on this. I’m glad to see multiple outlets running articles exposing Lester’s bias. This is what I said in the other thread:
Hillary was well rehearsed and polished indeed, but she had help from the moderator. What did Lester ask Hillary that was tough? He asked Trump four tough questions:
1) He asked Trump about his taxes.
2) He asked Trump about the birth certificate.
3) He pressed Trump on his opposition to Iraq.
4) He asked Trump about his comments on Hillary not having the “look” of being President and then proceeded to repeat Meghan Kelly’s point about Trump calling women pigs, etc.
5) He rebuffed Trump on stop and frisk (saying that stop and frisk was found unConstitutional). He responded, but to it, but still...
Also, I don’t know how many times Hillary Clinton was allowed to ramble on, but Trump would attempt to respond, and Lester would say something like, “Only a few seconds, Mr. Trump,” or “We really have to move on, Mr. Trump, and get to the next question.”
CNN keeps saying that Trump went into the weeds. Well, Trump was responding to Lester’s questions.
Things you didn’t hear:
1) He never asked Hillary about Benghazi.
2) He never asked Hillary about her emails.
3) He never asked Hillary about pay for play.

Holt is just another in a long line of filthy progressive communists who hates America. Raddatz will be worse.
Donald Trump vs. Raddatz, Cooper & Hillary
There are always plenty of opportunities for a candidate to address those topics in answers to other questions.
Ignore the moderator and press home your case yourself.
If the moderator objects, say this is a debate and I will bring up what topics the American people deem important and address them.
If you don’t like it, not my problem and the truth will be heard.
Who Won The First 2016 Presidential Debate?
(Check One)- Lester Holt
- Donald Trump
- Hillary Clinton
“Ignore the moderator and press home your case yourself.”
Yes, to a greater degree next time. But he is forced to answer the question (charges) or it looks like he’s hiding something.
Unfortunately, the real solution is to have each side agree on the questions ahead of time. The tough questions and comments need to come from the opponent. And cut off microphones after time is reached. No more moderators.
In all respects, a despicable whoring toady.
A perfect fit for the pimps at Enemedia, Inc.
Be a shame if Holt had an accident.
Why didn’t Holt ask Hillary about the deplorables?
My wife and I could not believe ,and said how on this earth could he think of asking those questions , when we face so many issues right now as a country.
the bias was stunning and disgusting.
The DNC emails coordination with the media should definitely be in the debates.
yeah, the Obama birth certificate thing, he put to rest.
as soon as that came up, I knew Lester’s elbow had been twisted by Hillary’s folks.
