If you are a black man in America, exercising your constitutional right to keep and bear arms can be fatal. You might think the National Rifle Association and its amen chorus would be outraged, but apparently they believe Second Amendment rights are for whites only

This guy Robinson is actually allowed to write for this publication? No wonder why people have turned into “useful idiots”.
That immediately raises issues, as anybody who has signed a 4473 knows:
"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"
I would hope that law enforcement officers would look into a situation where they saw someone with a handgun using drugs unlawfully.
And of course the difference between open carry of a firearm, and brandishing a firearm. Apparently Mr. Robinson doesn't realize that there is a difference between simply carrying a firearm, and waving it around, particularly when involved in an interaction with police.
At this time the left is so busy lying that their opinion articles are nearly pointless, except for their own propaganda purposes. Do they really think everyone else is as uninformed as they are, or pretend to be?
Your comment seems somewhat nonsensical to me because the Second Amendment significantly preceded the common reference cited as “Jim Crow” laws.
Further, in this instance, what law (or a remnant of one) in Charlotte would have infringed on a law abiding citizen’s right to a gun, barring the fact that the person wasn’t a felon (not black or white, but a FELON) prohibited from owning a gun.
The CURRENT laws are simple (whether we agree on them or not). If you aren’t a convicted felon who has lost the right to have a weapon, abide by the law and all its stipulations (regardless of color - they don’t say black/white to my knowledge) you aren’t prohibited from possessing a gun, period...... Fail that test and what you do could cost you your life if you go against it. Jim Crow has nothing to do with this.
So let’s be honest. Current gun laws are most strict in blue states and especially blue cities. This affects blacks heavily due to large numbers of blacks living in these locales, but don’t forget larger numbers of whites live in these same places and their 2A rights are restricted also.
These reason for all these strict laws is due to excessive black violence, without which, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
And BTW, cops are far more tense and cautious because of their knowledge of excessive black violence.
So what you’re saying is the police while seeing him a car multiple time before the incident DIDN’T not the license plate and ID the owner and get a breakdown?
The fact is that we don’t know now all that they knew up to the shooting.
White men don’t get shot by police in the middle of the day because they are at work.
Exactly how was this person “at work?”
I don't know that the police would even bother cross-referencing a motor vehicle record with a criminal database anyway. They have no way of knowing if the guy sitting in the vehicle is the one who actually owns it.
I read that they “backed off” and approached from another angle at a later time. You’re honestly telling me they didn’t check this guy out beforehand? You have no idea what police unit computer info per state here brings up.
Uh he wasn’t that’s the point.
If you’re ordered to drop a loaded gun 9 times by law enforcement and ignore the warnings, it doesn’t make any difference what skin pigmentation you have.
“White men refusing to drop a loaded gun after a stop get shot just the same.”
But it doesn’t garner headline news and doesn’t inspire days of protest.
That is true...he/she was a white, racist bible-clutching racist to begin with.
Rumor has it that the East Hampton Police share a bottle of prosecco.
Eugene Robinson is a moron.
They "backed off" because they weren't in uniform, and had to get their bulletproof vests and other police gear on before approaching him.
They also called for backup, and the dashcam video you see is from the police car that arrived on the scene. I may be wrong about this, but I believe the police officer who arrives in that car is the only uniformed cop on the scene -- and may even be the one who shot the perp.
Scotts relatives claim he was unarmed as well. But lets assume that police are telling the truth and he had a handgun. What reason was there for officers to confront him?
He answered his own dumb ass question.
** they believe Second Amendment rights are for whites only **
Might as well stop reading right there.
P.S. — What I’m saying is that the police probably would have pursued the same course of action if they knew the guy had no criminal record and had no legal constraints on carrying the gun.
