Gov. Jerry Brown on Saturday signed into law a measure allowing Californians to break into vehicles to rescue animals if they appear to be in danger from excessive heat.
**SNIP**
Under AB 797, a citizen must first call law enforcement to report a situation in which he or she believes an animal to be in peril.
But if the animal is in imminent danger, the car is locked, and law enforcement is not arriving quickly enough to save the animals life, the bill provides immunity from civil and criminal liability to a person causing vehicle damage for the purpose of rescuing the animal. The measure was supported by the Humane Society of the United States and the Los Angeles district attorney's office.

But not children/babies?
Will it turn Republican Red again?
Bankruptcy, riots and lawsuits is my guess. All blamed on Trump, of course - no consideration given to the craptacular policies of state officials that generated those things.
There is no law needed for children or babies. This is covered under “self defence” where you have the right to help others.
Explains why you’re seeing more guys in LA with tire irons in their hands and Chihuahuas under their arms. :o)
It looks like there are a few states with these kinds of laws for dogs, usually as an amendment to an existing law for infants and children, but it looks like this new law in CA only covers animals. This article is not explicitly dated but knows about this CA new dog law.
“I saw a fly trying to get out.”
Officer, I swear there was a dog tied to the in-dash entertainment system. When I removed the system to save the dog, it ran off...
Depends how fast the wall goes up. If he could complete it in 2 years. I think California could turn red in 8 years
So it’s 70 out. My Brittany is in the car and all the windows are more than cracked while I stop in to get a quart of milk.
Would some fool think that it’s a qualifier?
You do it. Sit in your car, in the direct sun, with the windows “more than cracked”, keys out to the ignition. It does get considerably hotter in the car - takes less than you think. Besides dogs don’t sweat like we do - heat only escapes through their panting. We all know that running in for milk turns into 15 to 20 minutes - unless you are at a C-mart type of place. I love my choc labs and take them many places, but if I am making a stop anywhere I leave them at home - to hold down the furniture, of course.
... anyone remember this:
The Teacup Yorkie is the accomplice of choice for me. They'll fit nicely in a shirt pocket leaving both hands free to work.
It’s always “just a quart of milk” ... then turns into 20 or 30 items. Don’t subject your best friend to the crushing heat.
I usually just have to leave my dogs at home when I take a long, cold look at whether I plan to leave them in age car at some point.
Lol!
An invitation to ransack the car, and perhaps hold Brittany for ransom?
Sell her to some of Michael Vick's former peeps?
Bring her to a BHO barbeque?
Or, it's a invitation for kids to pick up some extra cash from the local auto glass firm...
Break out the windows in Moon Beam’s limo to save a mosquito from sure death...afterall, mosquito lives matter.
“An invitation to ransack the car, and perhaps hold Brittany for ransom?”
Leave Brittany alone! Sob.
