Donald Trump may be on the cusp of bagging an endorsement from one of the most prominent NeverTrump holdouts, former primary rival Ted Cruz.
Sources close to the Trump campaign have confirmed Cruz is close to endorsing his former and sometimes bitter GOP rival. Talks between Cruz staff and the Trump camp have been regular in recent weeks, and have grown more serious as Trump has closed the gap with Hillary Clinton in key battleground states.

I’m “poised” to win $10 million, too.
Even Bill Krisolnacht is having second thoughts about burning down the GOP.
Yeah, close that barn door now Tead.
I agree, this is the best way to do it. It lets Cruz save face by giving a plausible excuse as to what made him change his mind, and it helps emphasize (what we presume will be) Trump’s good debate performance. in the eyes of the public. Moreover, it would give at least some of Cruz’s supporters the push they need to finally climb aboard the Trump Train . . . and in a race that could come down to the wire, we need all the passengers we can get.
As to whether it helps Cruz, I would say it probably would. But that’s OK. As Trump knows, the best deals are the ones in which both sides come out ahead.
"...who, being themselves but fallible and uninspired men, have assumed dominion over the faith of others, setting up their own opinions and modes of thinking as the only true and infallible, and as such endeavoring to impose them on others, hath established and maintained false religions over the greatest part of the world, and through all time;...that it is time enough for the rightful purposes of civil government, for its officers to interfere when principles break out into overt acts against peace and good order; and finally, that truth is great and will prevail if left to herself, that she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate, errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them. True that
Teddy is trying to save his sorry butt
Ted never thought Donald could win. With the prospect of a Trump presidency, he needs to mend some fences.
I still say Cruz would be a great Supreme Court Justice, and he would be around for a long time as well.
Cruz supported Corker. He needs to become a private citizen IMO.
“Teddy is trying to save his sorry butt”
All the #nevertrumpers are scurrying about now, it’s like turning a rock over.
Uh...why? Too little, too late LOL.
Endorsement? We don’t need his stinkin’ endorsement.
What list?
He is ineligible to be President and I don’t want anyone on the Supreme Court who doesn’t know what natural born citizen means.
Cubanadians are not eligible to be President.
NO MORE BUSHES !
EVER !
Here was Cruz's explanation, which I thought was rather weak:
This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.
I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obamas ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.
Whenever you place someone on the bench you take a big risk, and Cruz would be no exception. However, I am willing to take the chance on him. No one knows if he is for real or just playing the odds with his conservative stance, and his supposed love for the country. Sometimes you have to take chances. For all we know Trump may not be who we think he is, though I doubt that is the case. He would still get my vote because Hillary I know will be terrible. Even Reagan brought moments of disagreement with him, for me. No human is perfect.
A David Duke endorsement won't help Trump, an endorsement by Ted Cruz might be of some help. Not necessarily by getting a ton of Cruzers (as opposed to ex Cruz supporters) out to vote, but in showing Trump can unite and be gracious he could sway some votes.
I am for him getting as many votes as he can, I don't think the support of Cruz will hurt at all, and will likely give a slight bump (maybe 1%?), perhaps the bump that will win this thing. I no longer particularly like Ted, but I'm all for him doing what he should have done months ago.
Cubanadians are not eligible
You basically said what i said but differently?
