When a liberal is losing an argument, they change the narrative or move the goalposts.

They are intellectually bankrupt.

Neither are exactly right as the Civil Rights votes were primarily along regional and not party lines.

Most all the Democrats in the South voted against the Civil Rights Acts, and the few Republicans that represented the South voted against the Civil Rights Acts.

In 1964, the Republican nominee for president had voted against the Civil Rights Act.

Great!

Now I can tell all my ancestors who shot at each other in a war 160 years ago that it really never happened!

All those white Northern Republicans...were just out shooting one day, happened to see some white Southern Democrats, thought they’d take a pot shot!

700,000 dead men later, they stopped..no one knows why

Especially Joy Reid

Yes, they fought for them and the Republican Party orchestrated and aided them. The party of slavery, the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow and segregation opposed them. So pick up some serious history books and educate yourself Joy Reid. Idiot.

“I think the reason African-Americans have civil rights is because African-Americans fought for them.”

No, the reason is that the white majority had sufficient good will towards blacks to pass the laws.

That good will, thanks to certain parties, is eroding.

African-Americans would still be enslaved.

Irrespective of whether the Democrats or Republicans have helped blacks. The above statement is complete BS.

Joy Reid: Not True That Republicans Passed Civil Rights for African-Americans That Democrats Opposed

Twisting the truth. The 1964 Civil Rights Act passed with 73 votes: 46 Democrat and 27 Republican. So no, the Civil Rights Act would not have passed without Republican votes. Over two thirds of Democrats voted for the bill - 46 to 21, so no, the Democrats did not oppose the bill. As it turns out, every Democrat in a former Confederate state except one - Yarborough of Texas - voted against the bill. Every Democrat from a non-Confederate state except one - Byrd of West Virginia - voted for the bill. The sole Republican senator from a former Confederate state - Tower of Texas - voted against the bill as did 5 Republicans from non-Confederate states - Goldwater, Hickenlooper of Iowa, Cotton of New Hampshire, Mechem of New Mexico, and Simpson of Wyoming.

George Wallace comes to mind blocking black kids form entering school. Democrat the books say.

If you want the references get the Dinesh D’Souza book “Hillary's America” and go through the end nine pages of notes where the truth can be found.

Gun ownership. The right to defend yourself is a civil right that to this day the democrats suppress for blacks and women.

Just go watch Django, when he rescues the slaves from a cart.

There will be more of this. Wasserman Schulz on another thread saying Gore won Florida another example. Hurrying to rewrite as much history as they can before msm is totally discredited.
