Twisting the truth. The 1964 Civil Rights Act passed with 73 votes: 46 Democrat and 27 Republican. So no, the Civil Rights Act would not have passed without Republican votes. Over two thirds of Democrats voted for the bill - 46 to 21, so no, the Democrats did not oppose the bill. As it turns out, every Democrat in a former Confederate state except one - Yarborough of Texas - voted against the bill. Every Democrat from a non-Confederate state except one - Byrd of West Virginia - voted for the bill. The sole Republican senator from a former Confederate state - Tower of Texas - voted against the bill as did 5 Republicans from non-Confederate states - Goldwater, Hickenlooper of Iowa, Cotton of New Hampshire, Mechem of New Mexico, and Simpson of Wyoming.

Good research.
And to add to what you wrote, in 1964 the Republicans nominated Goldwater who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Democrats nominated LBJ who signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act into law.
