Ivanka wrote an Op-Ed in the WSJ, outlining one of the biggest issues facing working women.

From Ivanka: Political reporters love to speculate about my role in my father’s campaign. By various accounts, I’m a pundit, a surrogate, a top strategist and a potential running mate (that one was interesting!).

The real answer is actually the simplest: I am a loving daughter who was raised by my parents to hold strong convictions and to pursue solutions to problems. In my life, I’ve worked hard to do exactly that.

We each have diverse political views and neither my site nor my company is, or ever will be, politically inclined. Over the course of the last year, my team has remained laser-focused on our mission of inspiring and empowering women who work—regardless of party affiliation.

On a personal level, my father’s campaign has afforded me an unprecedented opportunity and a heightened platform to advocate for change relating to issues that are of critical importance to me—and to all women.

It is important that we come together to advance the dialogue around the issues facing women and families. We need to begin to act differently; to advocate for change and to implement solutions, whether through the legislature or in the workplace.

Give some taxpayers a tax break, and by necessity other taxpayers have to pay more.

Whatever happened to the concept of a flat tax and no special tax breaks for certain demographics?

It sounds like a great, practical program to help women and seniors.
This will bring in a lot of real working democrats and independents to the Trump side./
I, personally , know women who work, or try to, and this program would help them and their families.

Also, that creates an incentive for employers to avoid hiring younger women.

Ten bucks says that this benefit will be available for both new parents.

More in the workforce? So you’re saying he’s creating incentives for mothers to stop being homemakers and enter the work force?

And no—if you in effect tax employment, you get less employment. Give some favored workers tax breaks and the other workers have to pay at a higher rate.

Finally, this is the 21st century—there’s no huge unmet need for more workers—especially for those born this decade in order to join the workforce two or three decades out.

Everyone - note that there is a comment section at the bottom of the intro to her wsj piece on her website.

It would be great to leave her a bunch of supportive comments. I get that many here aren't that happy about gov sponsored child care - I'm not either, but she's an important part of the reason Hillary or some other Dem isn't going to be president, and she's a total winner.

Just a thought ... there are ways we can support Trump without having to make political donations. Sincere thanks for her work on the campaign and for being a role model for real Americans would probably go a long way to giving something to someone who doesn't really need money or praise or comments about what a babe she is ...

But how many men will take it? And if they do, we’ve just doubled the challenge for small employers to maintain full staffing without doubled costs.

I don't think may people will take it -- period.

Unemployment insurance doesn't replace your full paycheck.

Faced with this mandate, as an employer I would not hire a woman unless they were a grandmother or had undergone a hysterectomy. Long ago when I was of child bearing age, my employer had to keep my position open if at all possible and I had six weeks following birth, without pay, to return to that position if it remained vacant. As an employer, albeit with a limited staff, that is our current policy.

By necessity this will lead to a massive increase in income tax for those who aren’t parents of young children.

So poor working class schmoes will get a tax hike in order to give households with incomes up to $500K a big tax break.

Did you see where it will by necessity lead to “massive increases in income tax” for those who aren’t parent of young children. I am not sure that is a fair or valid assumption. Please provide link on this.

Frankly, I think this is a family friendly proposal—much like Bush tax credit was...Lord knows families need a break, and if this helps bring in the millennial families, Lord knows we need them voting for Trump!

The alternative is 4 ultra-liberal Supremes and hundreds of thousands of refugees...

All of it is bad as all of it expands the power of the federal government.

Amen. There should be no tax credits (i.e. redistribution of confiscated wealth) for anything. Likewise, neither companies nor the taxpayer should be required to foot the bill for people to not show up and do their jobs. Nor should any business have to hold a position for someone; the value of that person's contribution should dictate the company's volitional decision to hold it open for them or not. Here we're seeing how Trump is just the less damaging of two bad options (Perot Johnson doesn't count).

Paid maternity leave? On top of their salary and benefits? Why is it businesses’ responsibility to subsidize childbearing? I’m not trying to be mean.

This is yet another reason why men don’t want to work-less perks than women all while working more hours and still getting gripes at for being oppressive.

Who pays for this in the end? The consumer pays for it through higher prices.

I don’t like it.

Unemployment insurance will get more expensive and that will be passed onto the consumer.

“Unemployment insurance will get more expensive and that will be passed onto the consumer.”

Exactly.

We would find that on the page 1 of your Economics textbook.

Give some taxpayers a tax break, and by necessity other taxpayers have to pay more.

Whatever happened to the concept of a flat tax and no special tax breaks for certain demographics?

Link?

Are you against medical spending accounts, IRAs, Education tax deferment accounts? State Tax offsets? Are you against gas mileage home office/business expenses, etc., home mortgage interest refunds? etc...I have only scratched the surface of tax credits. Bet you have claimed some of those...

I am happy if my kids or my neighbors get a tax credit...It is money they are spending, just getting some back from our wasteful government...I especially support it because I want them to be a strong family and finances eat away at families... #1 cause of divorce...I want child care and stay-at-home mom credits so they can raise good children with strong values...That is one demographic I can get behind...

Besides, the economy and tax code are not static...so unless you have a link, you cannot say that you are raising taxes of others for this credit...and as I noted, there sure are a lot of various credits available for all sorts of demographics...This program is not loaded with lots of giveaways like the illegals area getting...these are tax credits—a return of taxpayer’s money.

In addition, as a taxpayer who always seems to just miss the tax breaks—it is amazing how we either make too much or not enough, but we never seem to qualify..., I don’t have a problem with a tax credit for young families especially if it brings millennial voters to the voting booth to vote Trump. They have been screwed so badly because of the job market, and they will be required to pay the Obama excesses. I just read that millennials have surpassed baby boomers, so it is a smart demographic for Trump to address—and a child care tax credit is a lot better than the Free College and loan forgiveness drivel coming out of Hillary’s mouth!!

When I read that Illegal Immigrants are getting $1700/month in benefits from our government, uh yeah, I would like my kids to get any tax credits they can as they are being eaten alive by taxes.

Believe me if the flat tax or fair tax ever see the light of day, I will be thrilled, but I suspect such proposals will be massaged and compromised so much in order to be accepted by dems, I will still get the short end of the stick.
