Entire Title: Ann Coulter: Why Do We Have Debate Moderators at All? Why on Earth Should All These Hillary Voters Be Choosing the Questions?
Speaking with Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on Wednesdays edition of Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM, Ann Coulter, the bestselling author of In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, questioned the need for presidential debate moderators.
Coulter and Marlow were discussing Wednesdays Commander-in-Chief Forum that would give voters their first chance to see Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton head-to-head, although not in an interactive debate setting.
This whole moderator and debate business really enrages me, she said of the questions swirling around forum moderator Matt Lauers alleged membership in the Clinton Foundation.
As Ive said before, why do we have moderators at all? Coulter asked. This is crazy, how the incredibly biased, disrespected, and distrusted media has injected itself right into the heart of a presidential campaign, so we have two-to-one on these stages.
Lincoln and Douglas didnt have moderators, she pointed out. We want the candidates to ask one another questions. Its one thing to have a referee whos making sure that each candidate is given equal time, but why on Earth should all these Hillary voters be choosing the questions?
As she argued at length in her latest book, Colter said theres no way wed be talking about these issues sanctuary cities, anchor babies, building a wall, a deportation task force if Trump had not shaped the political conversation, rather than allowing the media to do it.

Call them out, Ann!
There are not debates that we’ve seen. They’re just a modified press conference is all where the liberal media gets to ask GOTCHA!! questions of Trump and softballs of everyone else.
In an actual debate the candidates would all be asked the same questions and then given time to respond. Haven’t seen that in this election cycle.
To make sure nothing ever can change?
These aren’t actually debates, they are more like joint press conferences.
Ask Rinse that, Ann. Not us.
Repubs never wake up. Never.
Coulter is totally right on this one. And it is exceptionally relevant tonight with that puke Matt Lauer involved.
I want them to do a cage match.
Good question, Ann. We don’t really need them. We may need someone or something to read the questions out loud, make sure everyone is on the same page, but we already have subtitles for the hearing impaired. A Traffic Light system can govern who speaks when. The microphone has to either shut off when a candidates turn ends or we will allow the candidates to overtalk and spill over into the other one’s timeslot. I say give it a try.
“Moderators” are there to drive the debate to their pre-disposed direction and end, not to facilitate the airing of truth between the candidates. Let the candidates ask the questions of each other, there you will see a real “debate” and let the results fall where they may.
True. If anyone could be replaced by a robot, it’s Matt Lauer.
She is SO correct.....there should be ONLY a DEBATE between the TWO candidates. Someone to introduce them and give them their timing rules...etc....LIKE A TRUE DEBATE.
Now-—the PRESSTITUTES are featured....and WHY should these idiots have MORE CONTROL over what can and can not be talked about!!!!!
Our system has been so corrupted, it is NOT funny!!!!
Did Lincoln-Douglas have a moderator?
If hillary can do 10 push ups i will vote for her!
She thought she could plug a book in front of a hollywood audience.
“True. If anyone could be replaced by a robot, its Matt Lauer.”
Matt Lauer could be replaced by a gum ball machine.
Please allow me to reuse a comment I posted last May.
“Wouldnt it be refreshing if there were no moderator (as that role has come to be defined) just a time-keeper, to (attempt to) ensure roughly equal time allocation.”
