This is not “double jeopardy”. McDonnell skated on the technicality of instructions given to the jury. His conviction was vacated on that basis, allowing for retrial. He is a scumbag and Republicans ought not lament his retrial. He may get off on retrial, but he took a pile of loot and thought he deserved it.

Pusing for Kaine to be scrutinized on the same basis is fair game.

Virginia governors apparently can be had inexpensively. That shows that Virginia is a good place to do business if you need to buy politicians cheaply.

McDonnell is right where he put himself.

The DOJ typically overlooks this penny-ante corruption, but a republican politician should have expected the double standard and not played in the corruption cesspool just because democrats do.

“all part of a nefarious scheme by Democrats to make Republican politicians look as corrupt as Democrat politicians”.

It helps the Democrats to implement this scheme when, as with McDonnell, he atually is as corrupt as Democrat politicians.

Don’t cry for McDonnell. He’s right where he belongs.

“Are you a member of the DOJ?”

Nope. It’s my takeaway from the article.

> Can someone say, “double jeopardy”?

The very first thought that leapt into my mind when reading the title.

Of course, the Department of Just-us does not care one whit about the rule of law or anything else beyond persecuting its enemies list.

****************

Even so, the unanimous decision of the USSC should have ended the matter. You can be absolutely certain that if the USSC had decided in favor of a Democrat politician the issue would be over and closed. That is the point.

“unanimous decision of the USSC should have ended the matter”

No. All the USSC said was that jury instructions were incorrect. They did not preclude retrial. There is nothing legally improper about his retrial. That’s the wrong tree to bark up. Find another one if you must

McDonnell is a Republican.

That is all this case was ever about.

The issue of whether there is nothing legally improper about his retrial is besides the point. The point clearly is that this is a political persecution by Democrats. Its their modus operandi. Its what they do. Can you honestly see this same scenario happening to a Democrat politician?

“Fortunately, the tide is finally turning when it comes to misusing nebulous criminal laws to target conservative elected officials.”

This problem will exist until the left is driven from public life.

So long as a single, detestable demonrat pollutes an office anywhere, this abuse will continue.

I think that should be our goal: not to “work with” the demonrats, or find compromises, but to hammer them with blow after blow until their party and their evil platform are history.

SCOTUS should have dismissed this case “with prejudice”.

“If Trump doesn’t within the first 30 days replace the top three layers of every Federal department and agency, they will work tirelessly to undermine his administration. They are corrupt to the core and the bureaucratic barns need to be cleaned out asap. And that includes the Pentagon, FBI and CIA.”

True, and that is a matter of the utmost urgency.

I wish there were some way to communicate it to Trump.

The corruption is so inbred in many of these departments and agencies, he just needs to close them down and start over again.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy for McDonnell but the SCOTUS has spoken. Its over.

There is a great way to communicate this to Trump! You call in to the Breitbart Daily Show, or weekend show and say this. The Trump Campaign listens to the show. You can also go to the Trump campaign website and make suggestions. Or try to call in to other radio shows with pro-Trump hosts and talk about it.
