I saw Roy Clark this evening at an event called "A Conversation with Roy Clark" here in Kansas, and got a book autographed by him. So I thought I would put this song out here. I saw him one other time 36 years ago at the Las Vegas Hilton during a taping of The Mike Douglas Show.
I grew up watching Roy Clark on Hee Haw...
Vote Trump!
Good lyrics on this song...
Perhaps one of the musicians of ever.
How’s Roy doing?
Many years ago, my band opened for Roy. I got talking to him about the first time I’de seen him. It was on one of those old music shows. He was hilarious! He played Wildwood Flower with the most insane musical mistakes! We had a good laugh about it! Then he blew me off the stage with his amazing playing! Great fun!
Enjoyed that!
I always enjoy his ‘I never picked cotton’ and have it in my mp3 collection of nearly 300 classics.

I’ve always enjoyed that song. But this is the Roy Clark performance that blew me away when I was a child.

Absolutely one of my favorite performers, and people.
An outstanding guitarist, but I’ve always just hated this song.
Amazingly beautiful song.
Roy has heart issues and I always expected him to go before Buck Owens. Did not happen that way.
I’m going to go sing this at karaoke...
Nice. Thanks for posting...I’d completely forgotten about this song. I listened to the Glenn Campbell, Dusty Springfield, and Shirley Bassey covers of it, too.
It means a lot more now that I reached 65’
I grew up watching him on Hee Haw but only have one album of his “Makin’ Music”, duets with Clarence Gatemouth Brown

I still enjoy Hee Haw today. Simple, clean fun. DVD's are not easy to come by anymore, but I grab 'em up when I can.
I guess I do have another record he is on, Funnel of Love by Wanda Jackson (1960).

I saw him at Harrah's in Reno sometime in the 70's (I had to rent a coat and tie at the door to get in and I had a date.).
He's a true entertainer. He can play any instrument well and he's funny...maybe the best live show I've ever seen.
