GOP nominee Donald Trump did not give a rally speech Wednesday night in Phoenix, Arizona. He offered a detailed policy speech to the crowd about his immigration policy. Pretty early on, it was evident those media reports about a softening of his immigration plan were way off base.
A few hours before his address, Trump met Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto in Mexico, where the two offered a cordial joint press conference to reporters.
We want to build a fair relationship between the two countries, Trump said in Phoenix.
Both countries are going to win as a result of his plan, he said.
Its our right to choose immigrants who we think will be most likely to thrive and flourish and love us, Trump began. American lives have been stolen because our politicians have failed to enforce our laws. Families have been torn apart by sanctuary city policies — some of whom joined Trump onstage following his remarks.
Instead of funneling so much money to illegal immigration, the United States could invest in school vouchers, Trump argued.
The wellbeing of the American people matters, he said. Our greatest compassion must be for our American citizens.
Hillary Clintons immigration plan consists of open borders and let everyone come in, Trump said. In contrast, his plan was drafted in part by federal immigration officers, lawmakers who have led on the issue and people who are directly impacted by policies.
Here were some of his main initiatives:
1. Build a great wall along the southern border. As the crowd chanted build the wall!, Trump informed the crowd Mexico will indeed pay for the wall. 100 percent they dont know it yet, but theyre going to pay for the wall. The structure, he said, will be an impenetrable wall on day one. It will be equipped with above and below ground sensors, towers, aerial surveillance and manpower to supplement the wall. They will also use the best technology to find tunnels and keep out cartels. Mexico will work with us, Trump said. I absolutely believe it. I really believe they want to solve this problem along with us.
2. An end to catch and release. Anyone who illegally crosses the border will be detained until they are moved out of the country, he said.
3. Zero tolerance for criminal aliens. We will begin moving them out, day one in joint operation with local, state and federal law enforcement, he explained. They know who these people are. My first hour in office, those people are gone.A few other changes Trump will be implementing as president would be to issue detainers for criminal immigrants, pass Kates Law to ensure criminal aliens convicted of reentry are taken out, triple the number of ICE deportation officers to target criminals who have evaded justice, just like Hillary Clinton. Maybe theyll be able to deport her, he said.
4. Block funding for sanctuary cities.
5. Cancel unconstitutional executive orders and enforce all immigration laws. Trump said he will immediately terminate two illegal executive amnesties President Obama signed.
Trump added that his immigration plan will include a secure Visa tracking system. He will also ask the State Department, Homeland Security and the Department of Justice to begin a comprehensive review to determine if immigration should be suspended from the likes of Syria and Libya.
"There will be no amnesty," Trump concluded.
Trump was doing what he does best in Mexico....NEGOTIATING his art of the deal. Nieto felt he had gotten what he wanted and of course so did The Donald.
Just breathtaking.

We gonna build da wall, Cholos
Whachoo gonna do about it? Invade??
That speech last night was fantastic!
I LOVE the way Trump immediately took the opportunity to meet with the President of Mexico. My guess is it was an "in kind" invitation so hillary could get some positive press from a meeting. She even messed that up!
Of course, we'll have to catch them again since Obama's releasing them all.
Meanwhile, the GOP-majority Congress sits idly by and does nothing.
My guess is many of these ideas have been floating around for sometime ( and here on FR ) and yes I can't name the Senator or think tank that proposed them, but let that go. The point is, they are together in a policy statement and as POTUS DJT would do his dangdist to implement them all.
If I may steal all 10 from "CTH" and "Sundance", gosh I luv those folks lately, they are on their game!
♦ One: We will build a wall along the Southern Border.
♦ Two: End Catch-And-Release
♦ Three: Zero tolerance for criminal aliens.
♦ Four: Block Funding For Sanctuary Cities
♦ Five: Cancel Unconstitutional Executive Orders & Enforce All Immigration Laws
♦ Six: We Are Going To Suspend The Issuance Of Visas To Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur
♦ Seven: We will ensure that other countries take their people back when we order them deported.
♦ Eight: We will finally complete the biometric entry-exit visa tracking system.
♦ Nine: We will turn off the jobs and benefits magnet [E-Verify].
♦ Ten: We will reform legal immigration.
Also discussed by Freepers last night, in the Donald's own words and this was bigif you followed niko's thread:
"We will restore the highly successful Secure Communities program. We will expand and revitalize the popular 287(g) partnerships, which will help to identify hundreds of thousands of deportable aliens in local jails. Both of these programs have been recklessly gutted by this Administration. This is yet one more area where we are headed in a totally opposite direction."
The whole softening meme was propaganda designed to discourage Trump supporters.
I watched over half the speech, the rest I taped on my DVR and will watch it later. I did like what I heard
It’s likely the Mexican president was none too happy with the prospect of a near-impenetrable wall but he couldn’t bring himself to challenge the sovereign right of the US to build it. All he could do was say that Mexico would not pay for it.

Mr. TRUMP held his ground. There was and is no evidence of any flip flop whatsoever.
Personally, the issue was false from beginning to end. THIS MAN KEEPS his word. THIS MAN stands tall among the many.
Mr. Trump is a leader which AMERICA needs. Work to make him the next POTUS. He will not let US down as so many before him have done.
It would help to say prayers for his safety as well. The need to fly to Mexico in an unmarked plane only tells US what was already known. The crime family foundations are out to silence him and we are aware they take no prisoners. Mr. Trump has shown his love of the country and this country understands that such love is not looked upon kindly in some tightly knit circles.
We have waited for The Won, Mr. Trump is The WON!
Syria, Libya and other muslim countries aren’t the only concern.
With the EU open borders and the security problems they are having, immigration from ANYWHERE needs to STOP until everyone from everywhere can be thoroughly documented all the way back to their mothers womb.
Immigration applications need to be stopped completely.
Anyone already in the process can then be more thoroughly researched and documented.
Once those who have been thoroughly vetted are dealt with we can decide how many immigrants with which backgrounds we will allow.
At the same time demand ME countries declare a “safe zone” IN THE ME where “refugees” can be cared for.
No more free rides for anyone.
Especially anti-American terrorists and freeloaders.
At the same time tighten the screws on the welfare crowd.
Well, apparently the “softening” slant went out in the latest talking points.
Last week, I recall, they tried to push this lie following Trump’s meeting with some people from Univision, 3 of whom claimed he had changed his stance on “immigration”. Unfortunately, some Trump supporters can be picked off pretty easily, as witnessed by the response here on FR to the Univision story.
...the issue was false from beginning to end....
&&&
Exactly. But the leftists have done their research, so they know that we are ticked off by GOP politicians who pledge to do certain things and then do not follow through. So they figure that if they can paint Trump as in that mode that we will turn on him.
Especially when so-called conservative talk show hosts repeat the liberal lies. Last week Levin was giddily saying how Trump had softened and we missed our opportunity for a ‘real’ conservative. Of course he didn’t mention Cruz refusing to talk about what to do with illegals here until Trump was winning with his deportation/wall stance.
HAHAHAHA Mr. Trump was never doubted. Those who know his heart know that he is looking out for America and US. We were UN-phased by the lies told by our enemies, the MFM.
Mr. Trump stands firm...and WE stand firmly beside him.
I feel like a newlywed this morning
