Facebook Just Got a Whole Lot Creepier
Facebook Just Got a Whole Lot Creepier ^ | 30 August 2016 | Michael Krieger

I’ve been creeped out by Facebook for a long time now. The following story takes it to another level.

From Fusion:

While some of these incredibly accurate friend suggestions are amusing, others are alarming, such as this story from Lisa*, a psychiatrist who is an infrequent Facebook user, mostly signing in to RSVP for events. Last summer, she noticed that the social network had started recommending her patients as friends—and she had no idea why.

“I haven’t shared my email or phone contacts with Facebook,” she told me over the phone.

The next week, things got weirder.

Most of her patients are senior citizens or people with serious health or developmental issues, but she has one outlier: a 30-something snowboarder. Usually, Facebook would recommend he friend people his own age, who snowboard and jump out of planes. But Lisa told me that he had started seeing older and infirm people, such as a 70-year-old gentleman with a walker and someone with cerebral palsy.

“He laughed and said, ‘I don’t know any of these people who showed up on my list— I’m guessing they see you,’” recounted Lisa. “He showed me the list of friend recommendations, and I recognized some of my patients.”

Eyes Without A Face
Billy Idol

I’m all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall
When I’m far from home
Don’t call me on the phone
To tell me you’re alone
It’s easy to deceive
It’s easy to tease
But hard to get release
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.
I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was you
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.
When you hear the music you make a dip
Into someone else’s pocket then make a slip.
Steal a car and go to las vegas oh, the gigolo pool.
Hanging out by the state line,
Turning holy water into wine
Drinkin’ it down
I’m on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books tryin’ to stay hip.
I’m thinkin’ of you you’re out there so
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.
Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don’t despise
Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it’s gone from your eyes
I’d better realize
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.
Such a human waste your eyes without a face
And now it’s getting worse.

How do you get off facebook? Seriously. I want off.

You have to defeat your user profile in a game of Yahtzee.

There is another passive way to "get out" of facebook, or the equivalent of it.

1. Never post anything. 2. Never "friend anyone" (friends and relatives included) you wouldn't want to be in constant interaction with.

See post #17 on this thread.

Since I have NEVER been on Facebook, I’m the wrong person to ask about any technical Facebook stuff.

I’m the right person to ask about why Facebook is so bad for the Internet public, and why it must be destroyed, hard though that is

I’m sorry that people like Donald Trump are on Facebook. That make destroying this monster so much harder!!

This comment will probably make some eyes roll.

I have a theory on the friends facebook suggests.

If people do a search for your page, and inspect your page, facebook will then recommend those people to you as friends.

It fits with this story, it’s not unlikely that her patients did a search for her on facebook out of curiosity

This is what I KNOW. FB has always used common information like, work place, high school, home town, mutual friend, etc. But recently I have noticed that the suggested list of friends suddenly are people I have replied to through Outlook email. They have no other association with me other that.
Outlook stores information in a file that contains "fields", like "sent", and those "fields" can be extracted. You can easily do it yourself.

So what does that mean? FB is reading any and all information that contains email addresses that it then uses to scan it's members email list and then because YOU replied to an email that appears in their data base it suggests that person as a friend.

I recently hired a painter through his website and only communicated through email. He immediately came up in the suggested list.

I don’t know how they do it, but I have people who are clients on my recommended friends list. I have never contacted them via facebook. No reason for me to have them on my friend list. It is creepy at times.

It is an amazing tool for entrepreneurs.

It really is, but yes, I tire of the moron leftists. Then again, it gives a good picture of where they are coming from, and fully illustrates the fact that liberalism is a mnetal disorder.
