Bruna Castro-Ruiz, 28, says she saw part of what unfolded early Sunday at a gas station in Rio, as Lochte and his teammates headed back to the Olympic village. (She says she has already spoken to police about what she saw.) Lochte has said the foursome was robbed at gunpoint after stopping at the gas station on the taxi ride home an account he has changed slightly from earlier versions given to media. But local police later told PEOPLE that one of the swimmers in the group was seen on security video allegedly damaging a bathroom at the gas station, and that the swimmers gave over their wallets as payment for the incident.

“seen on security video allegedly damaging a bathroom” -— Funny how the Brazilian authorities never released that video...
My personal opinion is that these guys probably got drunk and damaged the bathroom the the police were called and the police asked for payment to make them go away. Call it being held up call it extortion call it what ever you want but if you believe the official Brazil side of the story I have a bridge to sell you.
See, that's where I don't trust the Rio police on this. The police say the swimmers handed over their wallets. Who does this? Even if the security guard supposedly demanded cash for supposed damages, who would hand over their entire wallet? If it's only cash, why not just take out some cash?
This whole thing stinks, and the more that comes out, the more I'm inclined to believe our swimmers, not that they're angels, but that it looks more and more like the Rio police are trying to cover up the third-world turd-hole mess they have there.
1) I dont trust Big Media. They are known liars and known to hate America.
2) I dont trust the Brazilian government in particular, and third world governments in general. They are known to be corrupt, and dishonest, and hate America.
3) I dont trust armed security guards in third-world hellholes. The distinction between them and armed robbers can be difficult to make.
4) I dont trust video with huge gaps in it.
never released that video...
Levin was saying the other nite that the video was altered.
Brazil is like a commie country, they will spend more money quashing rumors their country is a crime infested wasteland than money actually being used to fight crime...
Specifically, he was quoting TMZ saying that. TMZ are an odd bunch; they remind me of the National Enquirer. They're tabloid trash with positive credibility.
My guess is that once back in the States they will go back to their original story and slam the Brazilian police.
Drunk and stupid, vandalized a toilet. Security guard extorts them for hush money. It’s not that complicated.
One of them even paid the Brazilian authorities $11,000 to drop the charges. It was a bribe no matter how you look at it.
Do you trust someone that got caught lying on national TV?
Had Lochte not lied on TV the whole thing would have disappeared.
He didn’t lie ...

You ducked ...
So what? The Media has already found them guilty and the Brazilian Police are spending the money - move along.
This whole case is stupid. Had the Brazilians not made anything of it, the whole thing would have disappeared by now.
Had Lochte not told his mother about their visit to the gas station, none of this would have been in the news.
No.
I told you the things I’m certain of.
No. You didn’t duck or
No. Tough don’t trust what Lochte says?
