BIRMINGHAM A teenager has been charged with capital murder after dousing his elderly neighbor in gasoline and lighting him on fire.
Thomas Sims, 18, was already awaiting trial in connection with an armed car jacking early this year, according to al.com. Sims is now charged with the murder of 85-year-old Gene Emory Dacus.
Authorities report the capital murder charge stems from the theft of Dacuss truck, and detectives are searching for another suspect as well.
Officers responded to the 2300 block of 33rd Avenue North on Wednesday to investigate a person on fire. Officers found the victim, who is described as an 85-year-old white man, lying on the ground in the backyard of the listed location. He suffered severe burns, and was pronounced dead on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
Witnesses reported seeing a fire in the backyard, and also seeing a black male fleeing the scene with a red gas jug. They followed Sims and notified the police of his location, so he was located a short distance away and taken into police custody.
Our justice system is such a joke. This should be death penalty. I’mean sure he won’t even serve life. Democrats love their voters.
Drum Head Trial. Immediate execution. Drop the body over the ocean to save cleanup expenses.
We’received in an era when people don’t believe in God and sure aren’t afraid of the justice system where Democrats seek to release these murderers to kill again.
Another violent Trump voter. /s
I’m Jewish and believe in the Old Testament. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth...
I’m sure that if we just had more “common sense” gun control this never would have happened.
No. it would be better to douse him in gasoline and set him on fire. Let him suffer toe same fate as his victim.
Poster boy for BLM and the NBP. Must have been “triggered” by some “microaggression” committed by an 85 year old man.
Some people just need killing................
In Newspeak Teen = mentally retarded, violent, feral negro buck. I no longer even have to waste time reading the articles.
A gas can for a gas can..................
FWIW, the New Testament makes no effort to rescind the death penalty. Paul the apostle, a Jew who knew the Law inside and out, reinforced that civil government carries the threat of lethal force PER GOD (Romans 13).
Exodus 21:23-25 reads:
‘But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.’
I believe this teaching should be applied to Mr. Sims. Of course it won’t be, but hopefully there is capital punishment in Alabama. Failing that, perhaps the victim has family in prison in who can ‘counsel’ Mr. Sims, while in prison.

Crime would drop like a rock.
You solution mimics mine posted just a moment ago. Great minds with realistic solutions. :-)
This is not a complicated argument.
Imagine an elderly black man, 85 years old, living in a predominantly white neighborhood. He cuts the neighbors' grass, and even though he is 85, they let him. He picks up the trash that they won't pick up. He is nice and generous and goes out of his way to help people. Imagine someone stealing his car. Someone then kills him, sets him on fire, and steals his truck, and a white teen boy is taken into custody.
Imagine the headlines on the evening news. In Birmingham. In Atlanta. In New York. In Los Angeles. In Europe, and Japan; Mexico, Central and South America.
Imagine the cries of hate crimes. The burning, the looting, and riots. The shameful comments about the dirty racist South. The 1963 film reels of fire hoses and dogs, replayed for good measure. The press conferences by Jesse, Obama, Hillary, and high profile people from all walks of life discussing the hate and sheer bigotry still in the deep South.

But...he was just turning his life around, attending a community college...and is an altar boy to boot. He didn’t “intend” to do anything wrong.
Sickest thing I’ve heard in a while. Prayers up for the victims family and his soul.
