Former Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes will prepare Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for the presidential debates, according to a Tuesday report in The New York Times.
The Times reported that Ailes had transitioned almost immediately from his role as CEO into a new, informal job advising Trump as he prepares for the first presidential debate on September 26.
The former Fox News chief made a name for himself in politics as a Republican communications adviser who helped prepare past presidential candidates including George H.W. Bush.
Ailes resigned from Fox News amid an ongoing internal investigation into his conduct, prompted by a lawsuit from former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, who is one of several former Fox News employees who have accused him of sexual harassment.

TRUMP must TRiUMPh
Perhaps you could take your own advice. Trump does just fine, you? Not so much!
Well actually what I posted is that things may have changed. What if Ailes has an ax to grind over being forced out? If you were Ailes, how would you feel about the Murdochs right now? What would be more satisfying for you: helping the Murdochs’ candidate, Hillary, win, or helping Trump destroy the Murdochs’ candidate?
Strange......
Trump has great instincts, he’s neither naive or dumb.
He’s had a great track record of hires, I think I’ll trust him on this one.
Well, that is an angle.
I still can’t get beyond the woman that is still at FoxNews after becoming ‘the story’ after the first debate, rather than letting the candidates be the story.
When he let her get away with what she got away with, that sealed his fate with me.
Trump doesn’t need his help. There are many people willing and able to help Trump, that truly want him to be president. With them we don’t have to guess their motives. I’d keep Ailes as far from Trump as I could.
Is he trying to get in Trump’s good graces, or someone who is unmentioned good graces? We don’t really know, and I don’t trust him.
Go ahead.
I value Trump and the nation more than this nimrod.
#1 priority in debates...make sure the candidate does not sweat like Nixon did in debates with JFK. Place a concealed fan under the podium. It is summer time.
#2 Never look at your watch during debates. Roger Ailes forgot to teach that to Bush-41 who looked at his wrist watch a few times, giving impression he was bored.
#3 Make sure Trump never answers a gotcha question. Instead he must pivot into republican talking points.
#4 Attack the media moderator for bias. This art is perfected by Newt.
#5 Focus attacks on Hillary’s most vulnerable issues which are many. Libya, ISIS, Hillarycare, Obamacare, Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, 550% increase in Syrian refugees, Rose law firm missing records turning up in White House, her votes on 300 tax increases, her keeping health records hidden, Clinton foundation links with Dept of State and foreign donations, sudden jump in Clinton’s speaking fees after she became SOS, 97% of her charitable donations went to Clinton foundation, Only 10% of Clinton foundation money goes to actual charity with other 9% used for luxury travel, luxury restaurants and salaries.
Say “fool”, Trump seems to have done quite well without “education” as you put it. By the way, the Hillary site is right over there...
Yep, Trump just doesn’t know what he’s doing, never made a good hire in his life, didn’t even have the instincts to win the nomination.
Heheh.
Notice how the MSM mentions the charge against Ailes in the conversation about Trump. They are hoping the charge of sexual harassment against Ailes somehow rubs off on Trump; guilty by association.
HE not jeb
Yes Murdoch’s two cubs were always going to get rid of Ailes. The sexual harassment was just an excuse.
It is quite likely that Hillary will be coached on her softball questions pre-debate (as is par for the course for her) while Trump will be served up unexpected hard balls intended to embarrass him.
Trump’s team should require that all questions put to the candidates be pre-screened questions for both candidates.
If they try to screw him during the debate with a flyer, have him point out the fact that the question wasn’t on the “witness list” as agreed, and then he can talk for his allotted time about anything he wants to talk about ...
e.g. “Why is Mrs. Clinton’s dead left eye staring straight ahead while she looks to the right?”
Summer vacation.
I admired Ronald Reagan and thought him to be one of our best presidents.
I think along the same lines about Trump.
What was Reagan’s one Achilles heel? It was his staff. It was his staff that lied to him and told him only about 1 million illegals were in country. It was his staff that lied to him about some of the ramifications of his trade policies.
I value Trump. I know what type of a force he can be for our nation. And NO, NO WAY IN HELL, I am not going to support bringing aboard a guy like Ailes that can not only give Trump bad advice, but can leak that advice and Trump’s plans to the Clinton team.
If you can’t grasp the reason why, that’s okay. If you want to continue to try to trash me for it, knock yourself out.
I’m not budging on this perception.
Sorry, I didn’t quite make the connection on your comment.
Agree with you totally about Kelly. She made, and continues to make, a mockery of any claim Fox might have to journalistic integrity. That the network both tolerates and even encourages her tells you their professional morals are beyond repair.
Otoh Kelly, as you may recall, piled on the anti-Ailes bandwagon for all she was worth. There was certainly no love lost between that pair.
