El Chapo and the Secret History of the Heroin Crisis
Esquire ^ | August 9, 2016 | Don Winslow

Posted on 08/15/2016 7:13:39 AM PDT by C19fan

If you wonder why America is in the grips of a heroin epidemic that kills two hundred people a week, take a hard look at the legalization of pot, which destroyed the profits of the Mexican cartels. How did they respond to a major loss in revenue? Like any company, they created an irresistible new product and flooded the market. The scariest part: this might not have happened with El Chapo in charge.

The "secret" history? Why the hell is it a secret? Oh. Right. Because the potheads and crack addicts in the mainstream media and American politics have been covering up the devastating effects of drug use since the 1960s.

Thanks a lot, assholes.

I don’t wonder why.

I know why.

America has weak cowards who take drugs to temporarily escape reality.

WRONG WRONG WRONG

If you wonder why America is in the grips of a heroin epidemic that kills two hundred people a week,

All you need is a CALENDER and Check to see when the US MILITARY went in to Afghanistan and took over Border Security, and the DIRECT Correlation of the exploding Heroin Epidemic that immediately followed.

Now Remember this, Afghanistan produces 95% of the WORLD’S OPIUM,it is Shipped to Mexico and other countries for processing.

Now exactly HOW does ALL THAT PRODUCT get out of Afghanistan when OUR MILITARY CONTROLS THE ENTIRE BORDER OF AFGHANISTAN..?????

Gosh that’s witty.

You should be a comedian.

You’d be a riot at the AA meetings.

Better yet, get a job with an ambulance company transporting the dead addicts. You could amuse those dead addicts with your jokes.

It’s the opiod/pill epidemic. Folks got their opioid/benzo pills taken away by doctors, or priced out of their range, and the cartels saw a business opportunity. Pills are actually more expensive on the street, because you know exactly what you are getting. Heroin, not so much I guess.

A heroin epidemic killing two hundred people a week, eh?

That should put a smile on Bill and Melinda’s face - whatever way the surplus population can be eliminated is just fine with them!

I have some personal knowledge of that being true locally. High school kids say that heroin is easier to get than opiod pills now, so there you go.

“The scariest part: this might not have happened with El Chapo in charge.”

Ridiculous! ANY fool controlling the Cartel would have done the same thing. Business 101.

I’m in favor of dead addicts, decidedly so.

Legalize it all and let Walmart and Safeway sell it in ten pound sacks. In 6-8 weeks all the idiots will be dead. We can run end loaders down the street, toss their corpses in, and dump them in landfills.

Then the rest of us who don’t need babysitting can go about our lives without this stupid, counterproductive, unconstitutional “war” on drugs destroying the last few shreds of our Republic.

Have a nice day.

Yup, same here. Also not just kids, but respectable middle aged whites are supposedly out there trying to score heroin if their pill source is cut off. Now the cartel is cutting heroin with fentanyl, which is supposedly crazy strong and more addictive.

I think the increase in the suicide rate among white middle aged women over the last 15 years or so has a lot to do with the opioid/pill epidemic.

Besides reducing the demand for drugs, your concept might also reduce the number ob morons who vote for people like Obama and Hillary...

Interesting. Thank you.

ESQUIRE writers, and especially this Don Winslow...

Have an irritating habit of reminding you what authorities they are, how smart they, personally are;

how clever and above-the-fray they are “when they call me for advice I say...” “Of course I knew all about it. I was there...” “I was the first to...”

And then of course the requisite sprinkling of F words, because “I lived it, man...”

First pot then pills then heroin. Families get ruined and they pull in the kids to smoke with them. There is no such thing as a non-violent drug dealer. Singapore has the right idea. Hang em. We have been in a ten year fight to get our grand nieces away from druggy parents. Ten years lots of money for lawyers but great help from CPS,the police and some good judges. There is help if you know the system.

Hahahahahahaha!

That’s so funny!

On a thread about dead drug addicts, you want to obscure the issue with this.

Go show this photo to the families of the dead addicts.

I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.
