THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK
Sowing a thought reaps an act. Sowing an act reaps a habit. Sowing a habit reaps a character. Sowing a character reaps a destiny. The battle for the soul and the very essence of life goes on in our thought life. We are what we think (Proverbs 23:7). What we think, therefore, needs protection and can be controlled. II Corinthians 10:5 tells us to bring every thought into captivity. Good thoughts will produce good habits. For believers there are four keys in helping to develop good habits: 1. Follow God's Word daily, because it is the only infallible guide. 2. Pray, because prayer bears fruit (John 15:8). 3. Have a proper view of possessions and wealth, because most of our sins are related to greed and pride. 4. Love each other, because love is a daily choice that will revive you from within your person. It all starts with thoughts. Remember, sowing your thoughts reaps acting. Sowing action reaps habits. Sowing habits reaps your character. And sowing your character reaps YOUR destiny!

Your Father Knows
August 14, 2016
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Matthew 6:8
I was only four years old as I lay by my father on a floor mat on a hot summer night. (My mother, with a baby, had her own room at the time.) This was in northern Ghana where the climate is mostly dry. Sweat covered my body, and the heat parched my throat. I felt so thirsty I shook my father awake. In the middle of that dry night, he rose up and poured water from a jar for me to quench my thirst. Throughout my life, as he did that night, he exemplified the image of a caring father. He provided what I needed.
Some people may not have a good father figure in their lives. But we all have a Father who is strong and ever-present and who does not disappoint us. Jesus taught us to pray to our Father in heaven (Matt. 6:9). He told us that when our daily needs confront usfood, clothing, shelter, protection (v. 31)your Father knows what you need before you ask him (v. 8).
We have a Father who is always there. Night or day, whenever the going gets tough, we can trust that He will never abandon us. He has promised to care for us, and He knows better than we do what we need.
Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of coming to You as my Father. You know my needs before I even ask. Thank You that You will never turn me away.
Your loving heavenly Father never takes His eyes off you.
Among the topics Christ so eloquently addresses is the subject of worry. It appears that He was attuned to the fretting the human heart experiences in daily life. He encourages us to seek Gods kingdom as the top priority and then we are assured our Father God will provide for us (Matt. 6:33). He suggests we manage stress by faith: Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (v. 34).

A lot of resting today, Kathy. We were in the high 90's again today. Neither Mrs. MacNessa nor I were willing to go outside.

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

To: All
Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

V-J Day, what a marvelous occasion. I may not have even of been born had President Truman not made the RIGHT decision to drop the Atom bombs.
My Dad was to be part of the Jap mainland invasion.
