Theres something in the water in Rio and its getting worse.
The Olympic diving pool was closed Friday morning as the water continues to be a disturbing, murky shade of green. The concern for those who have been diving into the pool has grown as the problem persists.

Some have speculated algae in the warm outdoor pool could be the issue, while The Sun has helpfully ruled out excessive pee as a potential source of the change. A spokesman for the International Swimming Federation told the Los Angeles Times there was a chemical issue with the tanks, though that would do little to explain one German diver describing the odor in the air at the outdoor aquatic center.

We never should have put a man on the moon!
Now everything is compared to that!
Brazil certainly did itself no favors by hosting the Olympics. If they wanted to be seen as a failed, disease-ridden, unsanitary Third-World hellhole they certainly got their wish.
“Hopefully, this will be the final Olympics”
1988 was it for me, after which the US gave a big FU to Jim Thorpe and family.
And I’m not going for the “all the other countries do it” excuse for the complete capitulation of American values.
I expect a Chiraq Olympics would of been a similar failure.
lol
Don’t hear The Standells much anymore.
I heard on the radio yesterday that one of the chemicals ran out in the diving pool. Sounded like something that should have been an overnight fix.
My sister has this very cool system in her pool. There is a device that floats in her pool and continuously tests the water. She has an app on her phone and gets alerts when she needs to add chemicals. The chemicals are pre-measured and have numbers on them. Pretty much foolproof.
I’m glad we were able to get our Brazilian mahogany deck lumber out of the Rain Forest before the country went tits up.
Gonna be a FINE deck.
Probably if in chicago, the olympians would be in the ER having their bullet wounds bandaged or in the morgue.
.
There is no such thing as “potable water” in Rio.

Oh, I’m sure the “world” will try to prop up more countries - as if tourists actually want to rent hotel rooms, eat unsafe food, drink unsafe water in such places.
No surprise attendance is down - probably free tickets to locals in a lot of case.
I expect Sudan or Somalia will eventually be considered.
Even the “normal” pool is turning Ryan Lochte’s hair green.
Dont hear The Standells much anymore.
Isso é onde você me encontrará
Ah, Boston, você é a minha casa (Ah, sim)
Porque eu amo essa água suja
Ah, Boston, você é a minha casa (Ah, sim)
I don’t know much Spanish but I recognize that part of the song.
even in bottles?..........
Exactly.
Not surprised. Pretty much South America is or is getting close to being a “basket case” continent.
It’s Portugese
...Or being in a track and field meet to see if they can outrun the gangbanger.
