Breitbart/Gravis Poll: Virtual Tie in Georgia, Trump 45% to Clinton 44%

Donald J. Trump, the Republican nominee for president, holds a 1-point lead over Democrat Hillary R. Clinton in Georgia, according to a Breitbart/Gravis poll conducted Aug. 4 through Aug. 8 of 1,604 registered voters in that state.

“Trump is in a precarious position,” said Doug Kaplan, the managing partner of Gravis Marketing, the Florida-based firm that executed the poll for Breitbart News. The New York City developer leads the former first lady 45 percent to 44 percent in the poll, he said. The poll was conducted using automated phone calls with online responses and carries a 2.5 percent margin of error.

“Trump has shown strong support in states that have been considered locks for the Democrats and has had trouble in states that have been considered locked down as Republican, such as Georgia,” he said.

“Clinton has a real chance to flip states like Georgia, forcing Trump to play defense, while she then works to reengage with states that went for Obama twice,” he said.

President Barack Obama lost Georgia in 2012 to former Massachusetts governor W. Mitt Romney by 304,861 votes with Romney taking 53 percent to Obama’s 46 percent.

Kaplan said when respondents were asked to consider Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Dr. Jill Stein, Trump expands his lead to 43 percent with Clinton dropping to 39 percent and Stein the choice of two percent, Johnson eight percent.

Broken down by party, Trump was the choice of 76 percent of Georgia Republicans and eight percent of Democrats.

Clinton was the choice of 91 percent of Democrats, 11 percent of Republicans.

Gravis seems good, but “automated phone calls”? Would many Trump people answer these calls?

It is scarcely the first inning in the fall campaign. Way, way too early to worry about a close poll. It used to be that the Presidential campaign really didn't get into gear until after Labor Day.

If we all do what we can to promote Donald Trump--after all truth, honor & all the traditional American values are on our side;--we should win a convincing victory. The mass media in going tilt for Hillary, has discredited themselves into being increasingly ineffective, from here on. If they understood politics as well as they pretend, they would have held back a little of their venom. Too many inappropriate hysterical reactions discredits the hysterical--not the object of their lunacy.

If Trump loses Georgia, the race is over. He would have to win FL,SC,NC,VA and OH and PA. That would be almost impossible since the same dynamics that loses you GA would cost you SC,NC and VA.

I think Trump voters are just laying low....so the press doesn't drive us crazy. FR is great because the press has in most cases been vetted.

Wish something would come out definite on the Jeff kid that was murdered.

I have refused at least 5 political poll requests in the last two weeks, and I live in Atlanta.

This is the first time I’ve ever gotten those calls

What I’ve noticed is that he’s not spent a dime on advertising and has lived rent free in the heads of the DNC and the media and Hillary has supposedly spent $52 million. Certainly, it would be nice to be further ahead in GA at this time, but with the aforementioned, it is certainly not an entirely bad situation either.

If the GOP loses Georgia get ready for President Hag and then CWII because she is stupid enough to try and go for gun confiscation. She is obama without a feminine side.

It is a very, very good situation.

As Donald Trump's kids all testify, he is a very, very good father. All he needs to do, is go on speaking up for putting Americans first; but shift his tone slightly to a fatherly--as opposed to a brash sounding--approach, and he sweeps the floor with the Dems.

I would only gradually switch that tone. He is positioning himself just fine. No cause to panic; no cause to fret. Keep our focus, not the Clinton/Obama focus, and get out our voters.

“I would only gradually switch that tone. He is positioning himself just fine.”

Yep! :-)

The media has made him into a demon. He isn’t in front of cameras nor in commercials right now. All he has to do is create a commercial where he looks fatherly (as you put it) and this month long assault from the media is rendered worthless.

If he kicks her ample ass in the debates, it’s over ... preferably in the first debate. He has to drop the routine where he might bail out on the debates ... unless it’s a ploy to keep the media rambling about him not showing up yet he shows up and mops up the floor with the seahag.

I’m hoping that’s their strategy as it’s been quite unconventional thus far (that’s a good thing :-) ). I’m not accustomed to see a fighter on our side :-).
