Thomas Gibson has been fired from Criminal Minds following an on-set fight.
Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds,' ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios said in a joint statement Friday. Creative details for how the characters exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.
Gibson, 54, was initially suspended for two episodes of the CBS series after a physical altercation with co-executive producer and writer Virgil Williams two weeks ago.
On Friday, Gibson told Page Six in a statement, I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that wont be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.
The actor had previous on-set outbursts, TMZ reported, including one in which he pushed an assistant director and was subsequently sent to anger management courses.

Yeah, I heard about him being an ass a few years ago. Must’ve got out of hand for him to get canned. The guy with the beard is as nice as can be my buddy told me.
Might be one reason Gibson’s family lives in Texas and he “commuted” to LA to film the series.
That show was funny.
Damn. Bet they have him killed off by a serial killer.
Good point.
Truth is I can not watch that show. To upsetting to my inner self (soul)
It’s not the first time it’s happened. He’s also got a DUI under his belt. I can’t think of any other line of work where you can get into physical altercations with co-workers and get slapped with a DUI and still have a job.
As for those who think he’s indispensable, two words: Mandy Patinkin. I hear the show did fine without it’s original leading man.
What was in his mind? Was it criminal?
Just curious...was Moonves pushing him for the series lead, or a supporting character? David Caruso owned that series, almost to the point of parody. I heard Caruso was a real jerk during his days on NYPD Blue (had a case of Pernell Roberts Disease) but when his film career crashed and burned, he learned to appreciate a fat TV paycheck and stuck with CSI: Miami to the bitter end.

How it continues to be popular astounds me.
The plot centered around a serial killer psychiatrist who tormented his victims with their own phobias (locked a claustrophobic in a small box, left someone with a fear of drowning helpless in the water, etc.).
I turned to my spouse and commented, "they're just giving every sicko out there a laundry list of ideas."
It was for the lead because you’ve got to have a plan B in case your first choice turned you down. And the circus that surrounded Caruso was not because of CBS but Caruso’s handlers who were masterful in using the media to jack up his starting salary via word of mouth.
“Criminal Minds” changed dramatically a few years ago——and not for the better.
I haven’t watched it since then.
.
Have been a longtime fan of the show but really couldn’t stand it when they referred to every perp as an “Unsub” didnt know this guy has so many anger issues..I think recently they got rid of Morgan too..that’s when many fans dropped the show
".....I'm only going to say this once....only ONCE....I do not have any anger issues...got it?
