The BLM released its draft environmental impact statement Thursday. It is proposing amending up to 11 resource management plans in the two states. In 2014, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined the Gunnison sage-grouse requires listing as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.
...
about 5,000 breeding Gunnison sage-grouse live in the two states. Some 4,000 live in the Gunnison Basin, and the others in six satellite populations in Colorado and a seventh in Utah.
...
Fish and Wildlife pointed to the low numbers of birds in the other populations and their range of habitat threats as critical factors in its listing decision.
As a result, these population areas are key to species recovery and require different combinations of protection than needed within the Gunnison Basin, the BLM says.
It says its approach for these areas would balance resources and resource use among competing human interests, land uses, and the conservation of natural and cultural resource values, while sustaining and enhancing ecological integrity across the population, including plant and wildlife habitat.

BLM grousing again?...............
All grouse matter
The gas operations in Wyo have really done a number on them... You used to see them all over... not anymore
Sage grouse lives matter
Gunnison sage-grouse are TASTY!!! Eat ‘em before we run out!
Feral cats and out-of-control coyote populations don’t have anything to do with the wipe-out of ground birds?
It must be the gas wells, right?
Puh-leeze.
Ok Mr. Expert

^^^^^^ This. When I was a kid I never saw a coy-dog (coyote) now they are abundant. Ruffed grouse used to be everywhere, you couldn’t walk in the wood without at least a few blowing up in your face. You could here them beating their wings all day long. I haven’t heard nor have I seen one in a couple years at least, and we don’t have any gas wells in VT.
Exactly. When I grew up in California in school they beat the drum about how “global warming” was causing the deer population to collapse because in 2005 it was less than half of what it had been in 1990.
Naturally, it had nothing at all to do with the 1991 ban on hunting mountain lions and the doubling of the mountain lion population. Looking back I can only assume that the idiots must have thought that > California < mountain lions must all be vegans.
BLM interests have really expanded... All Lives Matter!!
Well done.
UN Agenda 21 ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)

Thread winner (and GREAT movie). No other posts needed. Thanks for playing, FRiends.
Liberals and the government have so many special interest groups they are running out of mnemonics !!!
Another land grab.
They are naturally dying out.
They will shut down economic growth and put tens of thousands out of work - and in 20 years the grouse will still be dying.
This same thing happened with the Spotted Owl in Oregon.
