Was Donald Trump calling for Hillary Clinton's assassination when he spoke on Tuesday in North Carolina? The New York Times sure seems to think so.
This was Trump's apparently offensive quote: "Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is. I don't know."
Suppose the phrase Second Amendment people had been replaced with any other special-interest group. Would there be any claims that Trump was threatening assassinations?
In a Newsweek interview on Monday, Hillary Clinton excoriated the lobbying power of these very same Second Amendment people. "We need to elect leaders with the courage to stand up to the gun lobby," she declared. It is a remark that she has made time and again. But presumably Clinton isn't suggesting that standing up to the gun lobby takes a special kind of courage because this lobby has a particular capacity for violence?
Based on her stand, shouldn't Clinton's response be that Trump is encouraging Second Amendment people to lobby to block her appointments? Why would anyone claim that he is encouraging her assassination? . . .

My better half gets her knickers in a knot watching the news. I try to tell her it is the Baghdad Bob show, reprised, but she isn't there yet.
Death threat:
“If Barack Obama tries to take my shotguns he’s got a problem.”-————

They are so over the top, they look like fools. Even the stupidest East Germans knew the swine their media were. Some of them supported it anyway and didn’t care what lies were told. It wasn’t about truth. That’s what we have here.
Hillary can’t win a fair election, so this disinformation campaign is to advance the media’s narrative, which is that they could run a grocery cart and elect it president. The establishment is that confident in its media and the zombies of the revolution, plus massive voter fraud.
Why do people who seldom ever post put up this bull sh*t? Of course no one with a GD brain believe that.
Very odd.
Does the statement win or lose him votes?
That should be the barometer for Trump’s comments.
Regarding an assassination, this man was actually assassinated, shot in the back.
The DNC "Russia leaked the emails" lie was the equivalent of the Benghazi video lie. The Russian balderdash was to cover the murder.
I think Trump meant that second amendment people would do something about it if Hillary succeeded in getting anti 2A judges seated...iow if they tried to take Americans’ guns.
And I agree with him. The 2A IS there to provide for the overthrow of unconstitutional government
If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun, Obama said in Philadelphia last night. Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a ...”
screw them.
I don't know... maybe abortionists? Euthanasia supporters? Capital punishment supporters?

I guess the one good thing over this, if there is any as Trump got off message, is that it is now very clear where the parties stand on gun ownership and it may rally a few more folks to get out and vote from DT. But, I still wish he didn’t say it.
Why would he?
She’s already got one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel.
The man isn't dumb...
Why give the media fuel to report on BS instead of staying on message attacking Hillary...
During the primaries he would say outrageous things to keep his name in the news cycle...it worked very well...
This is the general, he doesn't need to market his name by saying outlandish comments.. he is the story every day...
They lying media twist something Trump said and we’re supposed to be alarmed? What about what the reckless decline and disastrous country killing policies those in D.C. have brought us for decades?
I guess they’d like us to simply forget all about those minor little details.
Right rich?
Philadelphia Inquirer? Wow.
Official: No formal Secret Service discussions with Trump camp on remark

A federal official on Wednesday denied a news report that the U.S. Secret Service had formally spoken with Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign regarding his suggestion a day earlier that gun rights activists could stop Democratic rival Hillary Clinton from curtailing their access to firearms.
Pushing back against a CNN report that the law enforcement agency had had “more than one” exchange with the Trump camp about the remark, an official familiar with the matter told Reuters there had been no formal conversations with the campaign regarding the comment made to supporters the day before.

This was a classic strategic blunder on the part of Hillary. Like Nelson cutting the line at Trafalgar, Trump was able to carve off 2nd amendment supporters in one neat clean maneuver. Hillary can color that part of the vote gone - and a lot of 2nd amendment supporters are traditional democrats.
Trump could say “What a beautiful day” and he would be called a racist for not liking the dark
Well, that a bit of an exaggeration...but point taken
What concerns me is the voters who barely pay attention to the election except for the news that catch at night...
The media is going to drip, drip, drip on Trump every time he says something outlandish or can be contorted to mean something else...
If Trump said “It’s a beautiful day” CNN would put up a panel who’d tell us he’s simply exhibiting his white privilege. White folk do not experience ugly days, like people of color are subjected to. It’s all sunshine, lollypops and rainbows for them.
