MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said Monday that an independent conservative candidate on Monday will announce a challenge to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
"It does appear that there is going to be a well-funded independent candidate," Scarborough said on "Morning Joe," without providing a name.
Scarborough, a former GOP congressman from Florida, said the candidate would aim to get on 20 to 30 state ballots.

I thought Scarborough was very far ahead, in the ranks of American media.
Something changed. Might be two things I believe.
I agree with the poster that he now seems to be getting it on with his MSNBC co-anchor. (I had heard that already many times, and sort of agree that seems to be what changed him) I don’t know that for a fact, but it makes sense, and she is very strongly leftist.
I also suspect, he wanted to be VP. I actually was for that idea. I have also heard that suggested here on FR.
Trump picked someone else.
Those two things, seem to have changed Scarborough completely.
He was pro-Trump at one time though. Very much so.
Granted his entire network is otherwise a whole huge mess of leftists. But he seemed to get it, for awhile.

This is very telling.
Trump must be doing really well and the establishment crowd knows it. They are really afraid of Trump more than Hillary.
Personally, I fear her more than Trump any day of the week.
Definitely has all the components to be a RINO darling.

If you feel you have to go that route, why not go with the Constitution Party candidate? Wrong kind of conservative?

But why do it? According to a united media Trump is destroying his own campaign and Hillary is sailing towards a total landslide. They aren’t lying to us, are they?

I looked up Utah’s requirements: An independent presidential candidate can get on the general election ballot by filing a petition with the lieutenant governor no later than August 15 in the election year. The candidate must also pay a $500 filing fee. The petition must contain the signatures of 1,000 registered voters.[20]
HIGHLIGHTS
An independent presidential candidate in 2016 would need to collect 1,000 signatures in Utah in order to get on the ballot.[21]
He’s a Mormon and some of us expect that this is to keep Trump from taking Utah’s EVs.
