Trump pollster: 'There's a big hidden Trump vote'
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/7/16 | Paul Bedard

They're not exactly the Nixon era "silent majority," but both Republican and Democratic pollsters claim that there is a secret vote for Donald Trump showing up in some polls.

The Trump campaign on Sunday stated flatly there is a "big hidden Trump vote" in the nation.

And during the recent Democratic convention, a top pollster agreed, saying there is a "secret Trump vote."

Longtime Republican pollster and Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway explained on the Today show that the hidden vote is seen when anonymous online polls are compared to phone call interview polls where people have to be more public in stating who they support.

For example, the new Reuters poll had Trump and Hillary Clinton just three points apart, where others that are phone survey based out Sunday showed a greater gap.

"The Reuters poll, which is an online poll, where Donald Trump is three points behind Hillary Clinton nationally, and I think that the important point to note there is that when you have online polls as opposed to telephone polls, Mr. Trump tends to do better, and that's because the online polls approximate the ballot box, where you're issuing your vote privately," she said.

"We think there's a big hidden Trump vote in this country," said Conway, who added that Trump internal polls project "tighter" results in battleground states.

I suspect most in the Clinton/media campaign believe this and that is why they are pulling out all the stops in their attempt to take down Trump. I believe their fervent hope is that they could force Trump out BEFORE the 1st debate. They know that Clinton is suffering from some kind of medical or mental problem, and they also know that an aggressive Trump could result in a short circuit on live, nationwide TV in front of tens of millions of viewers. Could you imagine Clinton going into the head jerking mode during a particularly tough barrage from Trump, which would probably result in that guy coming run out to see if she’s OK?

Dont. Especially if you have family with you.

These anti Trumpers are nuts and there will be another time and a better reason to take that kind of chance.

We need you and yours safe.

As for me, I dont have kids so I’m gonna put 4 signs outside :)

“Professional” polls are tools for influencing public opinion, not sensing it.

The Democrats fervently amen’ed this thing upon themselves. Now they have to live with it.

Ask yourself this: Are Trump voters more or less likely than Hillary voters to answer/hang up on a pollster who calls them?

Personally, I don’t participate in polls. It’s just another tool to screen me for personal information and tastes for later advertising.

The question at hand is does that attitude correlate with overall voter preference? I’d like to think it does.

My 23 year old daughter fights me wearing my MAGA hat in high end restaurants. She is afraid we will be attacked in liberal Seattle.

In all honesty, the FIRST time i took an online poll this year, when they said who are you going to vote for in the election, I FROZE for a second!!

Everyone will know i was voting for Trump!!!! lol

And that was an anonymous poll!!!

I got my wits back in a few seconds and every survey since I proudly check him off.

But if I HESITATED, imagine how many WONT put his name even online!!

I think it’s YUGE!!!!

People who will vote for Trump just aren’t telling anyone about it to avoid the grief they’ll get from friends, relatives, co-workers and the like.

Grief they get from liberals. Liberals are intolerant.

Well we know what happens with “health problems” and Politburos. Suddenly the person becomes unavailable and a replacement is named.

Now the Democrats are pretty good about getting state supreme courts to skate by state laws in some places pertaining to replacement candidates. But not every state is New Jersey. The biggest question is whether they could get the USSC to force it. Not having 20 or so states on board means they are essentially forced to concede.

Yep...I usually put political signs in my yard...this year I’m hesitant.

Yup. Trump people have to worry about vandalism and retribution from crazy Leftists.

I don't think there is a reverse concern. Leftists let it all hang out because they know Republicans are not barbarians.

That being said, here in MA, I've seen a surprising number of Trump signs. Of course I saw many Bernie signs. I think I've seen two Hillary signs. Total. There is no enthusiasm.

I'm not saying Hillary will lose MA. But at the end of the day, voter turnout is key. And people are not juiced about Hillary. But they sure are about Trump.

“I think it is the pragmatic vote people who are not being vocal about it because they are afraid of the criticism of the purity vote people.”

Well I know I am like that. I am in the belly of the beast here in Southern California. This is Hillary (or whoever the Democrat nominee is) Country. Most co-workers, old friends, and some in family are die hard Democrat supporters. They would vote for Lucifer himself if he were the democRAT nominee! They all know Hillary is wholly corrupt and dishonest, but they still hate Trump more.

They are all very aggressive too in their hatred for Trump (or any Republican). To spare myself grief, I just keep quiet around these types myself. Two of my co-workers were talking about the election Friday in the break room. They were all talking about what an idiot Trump is and how they can’t wait for the coming Hillary landslide. Then they asked me what I thought. I told them I don’t vote or care to vote.

So you can count me in many situations as one of those silent Trump voters. I am sure there are many like me. Democrats are such nasty, vile people, our side just doesn’t want to deal with the grief from these people. It’s best to just stay silent.

I hate to admit it but I’m afraid to put a Trump bumper sticker on because I know the unhinged would mess up my car. It’s sad that it’s come to this.

It is called Bradley Effect!

No, it’s called the Cruz Effect. People don’t want to spend 3 months defending their vote for Trump. But the idea of a Hillary SCOTUS is too terrifying to contemplate. So they will vote Trump in the end.
