The Obama administration insisted Wednesday that its airlift of $400 million in cash to Iran in January wasn’t ransom for the release of five imprisoned Americans, while Republican lawmakers called the move appeasement and demanded that Secretary of State John F. Kerry turn over documents and testify before Congress.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest denied repeatedly that the cash payment was ransom.
“No, it was not. It is against the policy of the United States to pay ransom for hostages,” he said.
Some top Republican lawmakers said the payment, delivered in stacks of foreign currency on wooden pallets in an unmarked cargo plane about the same time Iran released the Americans, was too coincidental to pass the smell test....

OK, so where did the money come from. We should ask to see who signed for the $400 million. You can't just put $400 million in a truck and hand it over to a unmarked airplane, there needs to be a manifest and there should be signatures when it is turned over to another agency or a private company. I can't take a photocopy machine of of the US Treasury and drive it over to the CIA use it there and then drive it over to the Air Force and put it on a plane. How can I do that with $400 million?
There should be a paper trail of where the $400 million came from and where it ended up with signatures at each transition. IF there isn't such a paper trail, then Inspector Generals for each and every agency should be contacted and asked to investigate what criminal activity took place.
This was done on the quick, without regard to federal policy on how assets can be moved and disposed of and who has signature authority to do things. I am willing to bet dozens of laws have been violated by the Big Zero in his hurry to get the ransom deal done.
Regardless of whether the money was ransom, it was terrible timing to deliver the money at the same time the hostages were released. Was the administration too stupid to realize that? Unlikely. Leads to the conclusion that ransom might have been part of the motivation, and/or that the Iranians forced the administration to synchronize the money with the hostages.
Chaffetz the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is summoning Kerry to testify and turn over all documents and explain himself.

One article I read called it Jizya, a tithe paid by non-Moslems to Moslems. Does that sound better than ransom?
This was outrageous blatant Treason. It was an obvious cash transfer to a terrorist regime.
Legitimate intergovernment payments are made by electronic transfers, and are settled through the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland – a global central bank whose customers are nations' central banks.
A real free press would investigate this abomination.
They have to deny that delivering $400 million in cash is ransom because otherwise they would be admitting treason.
As I said on another thread. Obama didn’t actually exchange the hostages for $400 million since he planned on giving Iran the money anyway.
If Hillary is elected, they will eliminate all laws for Dem politicians - it will be anarchy and we will have a revolution.
