Daniel L. Hovland [born 1954] is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota.

Hovland served as the Chief Judge of the Court from 2002 to 2009. He joined the court in 2002 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.

Hovland also ruled against a North Dakota 2013 abortion law, and granted an injunction for North Dakota abortion restrictions (2013).

Until this election year, I always wondered how judges appointed by "conservatives" like George W. Bush could rule this way.
