A bipartisan coalition of 40 combat veterans, family members of military personnel killed in the line of duty and a veteran serving in Congress sent a letter to Donald Trump on Monday calling his criticism of the Muslim American parents of an Army soldier who was killed in Iraq "unacceptable" and an affront to each of them.
The letter, which was shared with The Washington Post and says it is not a partisan attack, was sent to Trump Monday via United States Postal Servicee, FedEx and Uber's courier service. It calls for Trump to apologize.
Organizers said they plan to add many more signatories by opening it up online for broader national participation. The list of signatories includes highly decorated combat veterans including Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, who was a supporter of Ted Cruz's presidential campaign. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), who served in Iraq as a Marine Corps infantry officer, is also on the list.
"To the military and veterans community, nothing is more sacred or honored than our Gold Star parents," says the letter, referring to parents whose children were killed in the line of duty. "Their personal sacrifice, the loss of a child, is the unimaginable. This week, when you chose to disparage the family of an American soldier who gave his life in combat, you chose to disparage all of us.

"I think this situation speaks quite well to Trump's blatant lack of fitness for office," said James Waters, a former George W. Bush administration White House aide and Navy SEAL. Waters said he is a Republican who is not voting for Trump.
Zach Iscol, a Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq and is a Democrat, said of Trump: "He bullies a lot of people. You do not bully a Gold Star family."

I would be curious how many of the Republicans on the list were #NeverTrumpers before this happened.
I'm trying to figure out exactly the degree of what Trump said that was horrible. The sacrifice comments aren't it because that was a reply to a question asked by George S. It was okay for him to respond because the media kept talking about it, but I think he would have been best to just say the son is a hero, thank the family for their sacrifice, and explain the three differences with the father - which were over whether he has read the Constitution, the Muslim ban, and the wall. Keep it pure policy. To an extent, Trump did. He explained the issue of terrorism in the interview.
The main thing they seem to have on Trump is (correct me if I'm wrong on this first point) he didn't call the son a hero in the initial George S. interview (which he has since done with no indication he ever thought otherwise) and comments implying the mother wasn't permitted by her husband to speak. The other thing is him saying Hillary wrote the Constitution line in the father's speech. The main argument seems to be against the mother. If I were Trump, I would just apologize to them for that. You aren't going to win a fight with a Gold Star Mom. For those who doubt me, look outside of Free Republic and other pro-Trump sites. It's just brutal.
The media will carry this thing for as along as they can. They are milking it, and statements by the VFW, letters like this, finding other Gold Star families to interview, and Republicans throwing him under the bus is a gift wrapped present for them and the Hillary campaign. Their goal is to make Hillary Clinton look like a champion of the vets by the end of this.
My ass !
Only if Dhimmicrats, CPUSA, Anarchists, etc can be considered 'bipartisan'.
NO comment on Clinton and others calling Patricia Smith a liar and calling for her execution
Of course they didn’t do the same thing when Hitlery dissed the Benghazi mothers.
Khan attacked Trump - what did Trump say at all?
If he apologizes, he’s done. That’s it. Trump train comes to a complete halt.
Double down. Trump had absolutely nothing to do with this guy’s son. In fact he wants to stop that from happening to other parents. Don’t apologize to these Muslim Brotherhood infiltrators, expose them.
Trump should focus on the economy. The rotten GDP figure validated what he said in his acceptance speech. This is a distraction.
Oh, I agree 100%. There is a double standard.
What comments? He barely said anything. Let’s get back to reality.
He actually did at his rally today. He didn’t touch the whole Kahn issue at all.
Trump needs to transition this back against Hillary
CNN fake poll is showing her 9 point bounce, lol that is all the media is talking about right now. 9 Point bounce for the screech that she called a speech?
As long as Trump refused to stay on message, the MSM will be more than happy to help dig his grave. I have never been impressed with Trump as a campaigner, and if he doesn’t get his act together, the MSM and the DEMs are going out the string for the next three months and stick us with Hillary.
are going out the string > are going to run out the string
This was not Trump’s finest hour. He needs to do whatever it takes to put this behind him and move on to the case against Clinton, and stop playing into her hands.
“Zach Iscol, a Marine combat veteran who served in Iraq and is a Democrat, said of Trump: “He bullies a lot of people. You do not bully a Gold Star family.”
What kind of combat veteran is thin-skinned enough to get his tits in a wringer about a so-called “bully”?
These people are no different than the reprehensible leftists in our so-called justice system - where their warped ideology Trumps (no pun intended) everything, and serves as the justification for any dishonest BS game they want to play.
Kahn is a stooge for the DNC and Hillary. They will forget about him within the week. He has served his purpose and the ignorant Pubbies have taken the bait.
Exactly.
All he would have to apologize for are his comments about the mother not being allowed to speak and saying the father didn’t write all of his speech. Other than that, he can maintain the policy differences he had with the father, and Trump actually addressed those to a degree in the George S. interview and then in a statement he put out.
And where is the letter to Hillary? If they don’t make similar demands of her, then they are just blowing smoke.
