Donald Trump responded to an appearance by a Muslim lawyer at the Democratic convention by saying he "would like to hear his wife say something."
One of the highlights of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia was a speech by Muslim lawyer Khizr Khan, who was accompanied by his wife Ghazala, about their son, a Marine who died in Iraq back in 2004. Khan at one point held up a pocket-sized version of the Constitution and asked if Trump ever read it.
"I'd liked to hear his wife say something," Trump said in an interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.
Trump elaborated on Khan's comments during an excerpt of an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week that will air Sunday.

Their Service is one of the highest and honorable America could achieve during the War.
But we still Bombed Japan into Ruin and Killed them by the Millions.
Because we were at War.
And the fact we had the 442nd didn't change that.
It couldn't change that, because Japan had be changed from it's warmongering ways, and that meant Napalming everything in Honshu.
Trump shouldn’t go after a Gold Star mother. Just thank them for their sacrifice and move on.
IMO ... this was not a winning move by Trump. But in 2 days, no one will remember.
He should have kept the Muslim ban, because Muslims coming from Europe are dangerous also.
Respectuflly disagree Kate.
This guy stepped into the ring for the Dems, using his son’s death for political purposes.
He took a shot at Trump. Trump shot back. That’s why HE is the nominee, and no one else.
They don’t get a free ride anymore - this isn’t Squish RINO versus the Dems as usual.
LOL!
Trump has made politics interesting again!
Trump went after the mother ... that’s what I’m saying was less than adept. Go after the father if that’s what Trump feels he needs to do. But by “attacking” the mother, we’re all going to hear about this for a couple of days and it just gives more fuel to the MSM to beat up Trump.
But as I wrote ... by Tuesday ... the herd will be find another way to make Trump look bad.
It is more like he was going after the Gold Star father for not allowing his wife to speak...but either way, as sympathetic and considerate I think we should be to Gold Star families, when they step into the political fray they open themselves to some criticism. I wish Trump had showed respect and thanks to them first before this comment.
Trump's point being, quite rightly, that women in islam are 2nd class citizens (if they're lucky), and rarely if ever, are allowed to say anything without permission from their male masters.
Absolutely correct. Using his sin’s death as a political prop opens him up to political ridicule. We used to “shush” up in these kinds of things, it was “not correct” to offer a retort. But it is a new time, with a new definition of political correctness. They Can’t take an indecent political shot then try to hide behind it any more. Go Trump and ALL OTHERS that are through with the PC BS.
Beat me by 19 seconds...
Turnabout is fair play.
“Trump went after the mother ... thats what Im saying was less than adept.”
No. He was showing that Muslim wives are subservient to their husbands.
He didn’t go after the mother. He went after the putrid culture that keeps her second class.
Stop falling for their manipulative propaganda.
Standing up for people who are treated like second class citizens is not a losing issue.
If I had $1 from everyone who said “this isnt a winning move by Trump” then I would have enough to pay off all of the $19 trillion in US debt and still have enough money left over buy 50% ownership in every liberal company that has a Market Cap over $30.
In a nutshell.
The days of suicidal altruism are drawing to a close.
Yep. When he opened his mouth to advance the left he became fair game
Yep, this ain’t Mitt Romney’s Republican Party anymore. No more Milquetoasts!
