Things dont look good for electric cars these days -- but did they ever? Tesla experienced a series of recalls, even before the recent crash in Florida that put the companys autopilot system in the spotlight. Apparently, watching a Harry Potter movie and letting your car drive isnt exactly a safe practice.
But the real problem with electric cars is actually the problem theyre marketed to solve: pollution. While the left insists that electric cars are the only way to protect the environment, theyre actually damaging the oil industry while shifting money to liberal interests.
Meanwhile, electric cars have proven to be a greater source of pollution than traditional vehicles.

You will have to produce large bulky batteries, which will get replaced every three to four years. Where these go, and how much they charge you for disposal have not been clear. Also, there’s tons of power required each night to recharge these cars....if you had 50-percent of the nation forced into recharging....will the grid support that nightly?
F1 racing uses hybrid technology.
Up until three years ago each of the 20+ race cars would go through a $80,000 battery each weekend.
Rules that began three years ago now mandate that:
1) The battery have three times the storage capacity (producing 250 HP, up from 85 HP)
2) That it must last 4 races (might be off here)
Now batteries cost $250,000.
This in an effort to make costs go down and the sport more ‘green.’
European enviro-wussies are the stupidest of all...
And how the heck are they going to power the grid — wind and solar power? Lol. Coal? — heck no. Nat gas? — absolutely not. Nuclear? — forget it. Hydro? — the enviros would have a hissy fit; no way!
How about the people that once they realize they cannot afford the new battery, just let the car sit in their driveway.
These people just piss me off.
We have a silly man here who drives a bright green prius(sp) with a hermit the frog doll standing in the hatch back part of the car, waving to passers by. I simply cannot strike up a converstaion with this person nor do I want to.
Yes, this is true.
1. Because the vehicles are built in factories running on electricty mostly produced in generating plants powered by burning oil or coal or by nuclear fusion.
2. Because the electricity to charge the batteries that power the vehicle is produced in those same power plants fueled by burning fossil fuels or by nuclear fusion.
3. Because the large negative impact on the environment from the manufacture and subsequent disposal of the vehicles and batteries is greater than the small positive impact of not powering the vehicle directly with fossil fuels.
Well, let's see...when I remove the lead-acid battery from one of my vehicles, I drop off the old one at pretty much any auto parts store to be recycled. Zero "out of pocket" charge to me. They will even accept lead-acid batteries from UPS systems. Lead-acid recycling has been a reality for a LONGGGG time.
You should invite him over for frog legs stew.
Yeah, the fallacy of this article lies here:
“When the answer is coal, environmentalists no longer have a leg to stand on when they advocate for electric vehicles.
Sourcing energy from coal results in nearly four times the number of pollution deaths than gas due to the soot and smog involved in burning coal.”
So, the real answer is to retire coal as an energy source. It doesn’t need to be done fast, but over the next twenty years or so. Replacement and expanded generation should be nuclear instead, which will be both cheaper and MUCH cleaner. The technical challenges facing nuclear are being solved, and could be rolled out quickly with actual commitment from industry and the government.
Coal is a terrible source of power for several reasons, the worst being that it’s extremely dirty. Mercury pollution is the icing on the cake. I know it’s a darling (wedge) issue for conservatives right now, but a commitment to phase coal out would also bring in a swath of people who understand the realities of the issue.
Can hardly wait for the YUGE elon musk giga factory to get into operation just east of Reno. I hear tell when (if)it’s totally finished it will be something like the equivalent of 17 football fields with a YUGE solar panel array on the roof to supply All it’s electrical needs. It’s already paid of for elon since he sold off the tax incentives he received from the state to one of the casinos in Vegas. How does that work? Anyway, once they get into production, I’m sure “non polluting” means of transporting their products will be put into place. You know, all electric semis and locomotives. No?
Electric cars are such a joke, besides the battery issues with disposal etc, the electricity provided is what the cars are ‘burning’. Tree huggers drive around in these things thinking they are saving the earth, but if they get their power from a coal plant, they are driving a COAL POWERED car which is dirtier than a gasoline car!
I like that idea.
Just cannot make this stuff up.
And of course he is the type of guy that avoids doing his job.
Typical left a failure......they are consistant with the model for sure............
Also, can batteries be reconditioned? From what I have read, they can't be reconditioned.
Thirdly, there is a lot of energy stored in a battery. I witnessed the meltdown of an Iphone a few weeks ago. It fried the whole inside of the car and that was an Iphone battery not a large, high cap, battery for powering a car.
Battery technology needs to be improved in numerous ways before it is ready for primetime.
But the good news is that the State Department will be foregoing AC because it is more hazardous than ISIS- Kerry said so! < /sarc >
Because they run on coal, natural gas and diminishing nuclear power in reality?...................
And like most Lefties, he’d probably “go postal” on you. Lefties don’t have a sense of humor and contrary to their claims, they are not “peaceful.”
If we would Nuke up, this would work. But we wont, so it wont.
Just once......................
Yup. Did you see the petition demanding that all State Dept building stop using AC?
Is there any research going on that will result in truly clean coal technology?
