Thirty-five years after he tried to kill a president, John Hinckley has won his freedom.
A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has granted a request for Hinckley to leave the mental hospital where he's lived for decades, to go live full-time with his elderly mother in Williamsburg, Va.
The release could happen as early as next week, the judge ruled. Under the terms of his order, Hinckley is not allowed to contact his victims, their relatives or actress Jodie Foster, with whom he was obsessed. Hinckley also will not be permitted to "knowingly travel" to areas where the current president or members or Congress are present. The judge said Hinckley could be allowed to live on his own or in a group home after one year.

Getting him out for another run?
Obviously they believe Trump will win or is going to win...
well done!! LMAO
Absolutely unreal. If he’s “good enough” to be cleared from the mental facility, he’s “good enough” to serve life in prison for what he did. More of the up-side-down/bizarro world in which we now find ourselves.
LMAO
I think he is the only one left that I recall. Squeaky, Sara, Walter are all free too.
I remember that day very clearly; I was a senior at Indiana University. That evening IU was going to play North Carolina for the NCAA Basketball championship. I came back to our house after class around 1:30 and my roommate told me the President had been shot, and the game might be postponed. Knowing him, my first reaction was “Bull$***.” But it was on the TV and that’s all we watched and talked about the rest of the day.
They made an almost game-time decision to go ahead and play, and the Hoosiers won their second national champtionship under Bob Knight. In my home office, I still have a framed copy of the front page of the Bloomington Herald-Telephone with two large headlines:
“Hoosiers NCAA Champs” and
“Reagan Condition Excellent After Surgeons Remove Bullet.”
She lives in the uber-upscale Kingsmill community, as does a family member of mine, who said that she had seen him before at the local grocer during one of his “weekend” visits. Surely his mother is quite elderly by now and it chills my family member to know that this nut case will be living that close.
I nominate Matt Damon
His mother will Norman.
He has been able to be at his mother’s house for overnight visits over the past 10+ years, and that time has increased to 17 days out of each month. He’s been out more than he’s been in for the most recent past.
I just can not believe this.
Google “Hinkley Bush neighbor.”
The mistake was that he survived the assassination attempt. Now we’ve supported him in a mental institution for decades and now likely on public welfare out of it. Being practical, too late to convict and execute him so is he a threat to anyone today? Which is cheaper path?
I think he comes from a wealthy family.
It’s likely he has trust fund money to live on.

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
For Immediate Release: January 5, 2016
PRESIDENT OBAMA TAKES UP MAJOR BRADY CAMPAIGN RECOMMENDATIONS TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE IN AMERICA WITH HISTORIC EXECUTIVE ACTION
I’d love to see statistics about these judges releasing these murderers, rapists and child molesters back on the street. Has to be close to 100% Democrat appointed. You’d get an occasional Souter, but Democrats own these injustices.
What time’s his speaking slot at the DemocRAT convention?
