On second thought, why was Ted Cruz asked to speak at the convention at all?

Earlier today, Ed cracked into the curious story of how Ted Cruz is going to wind up addressing the Republican National Convention tonight, supposedly without endorsing the party’s nominee. ... Jim Geraghty jumped into the same debate in today’s edition of the Morning Jolt, ...

"Are we absolutely certain Trump’s judicial picks will be good ones? Can he really secure the border, or will Trump water down his wall promises? Notice Rick Perry, who also spoke at the convention but who did not endorse or mention Trump from the stage, recently said it’s going to be a “digital wall.”

Are we absolutely certain Trump’s judicial picks will be good ones?

No, Jim. We’re not. But I know with an absolutely certainty what sort of picks Hillary Clinton will make. And this isn’t your first rodeo. You know it just as well without being told.

Can he really secure the border?

Beats me, Jim. .. even if it’s a scaled back wall, a “virtual” wall, .., he’s at least going to try. On the other hand, ...Hillary Clinton and all of the Americans in Waiting in Mexico and elsewhere?

For that matter, you can ask any number of other questions along those lines to keep casting doubt on the party’s nominee. Will he be good enough on guns? We can’t be sure, but the man has a concealed carry permit while Hillary is a proud fan of the Australian system of gun confiscation. Pick your poison, Jim. Will Trump raise taxes? Hillary has promised to.

Then his true colors showed and I started digging deeper.

Indeed. Anyone supporting an unethical, individual like Cruz, by definition, lacks ethics himself.

Good point re Christie. I still don’t know what that was all about, and at this point don’t care. Regardless, I hope Chrisie’s has a seat at the Trump table.

Thank you for setting the facts straight regarding Reagan’s
endorsement of Ford.

T1 looks like an uneducated idiot.

Did Reagan ever promise on national TV to support the winner? Ted is a liar whose word means nothing. Those who still support him after that don’t care about truthfulness and honor, as long as their candidate checks all the conservatively correct boxes.

Got a call from live person today for Cruz campaign. Said we would not support Cruz if he doesn’t endorse Trump public ally. She stuttered and got off the phone.

Cruz is only out for Cruz. Tonight is his personal commercial to win over Texas viewers.

Cruz speech today was about him and until the end of his speech,he mention another nominee, without saying Trump by name.
Trump had a Fly over about that time.

Hopefully He’ll do right by his pledge..or his word is null and void.

Yup. I took a really strong position on this presidential relationship, and posted it dozens of times supporting a Trump/Cruz ticket.:

.

Even to this day, by not honoring his pledge to the RNC and specifically, Trump; Cruz continues to exhibit this behavior.

Perhaps tonight he will change his mind.

Cruz is going to endorse Trump. He knows that if he does not he’s over. I’ll personally never support anyone who does not do their best to defeat Hillary. You can’t claim to be a patriot and just let Hillary become the defacto commander in chief turning over our military men and women to be abused and used like was the case in Benghazi.

Maybe he can explain why he paid Carley $500K other than keeping one of his bimbos silent.

“Ronald Reagan NEVER endorsed Gerald Ford when he was nominated to run against Jimma Carter.”

You lie. But that is what Cruzlims do. You can’t help yourselves.

You are spiritually bound to lies and confusion.

Asking Cruz to speak is a WIN-WIN situation for Trump.

If Cruz throws turds in the party punchbowl it will NOT affect Trump. It will GREATLY DIMINISH Cruz.

If Cruz will "man up" he'll begin to restore his own image, which in my opinion, took a severe hit when he teamed up with GOOFY Glenn beck.

The ball is in Cruz's court. We'll see just how smart and adept he is.

Reagan was a true conservative and Christian gentleman unlike some disguntled losing candidates today.

Perhaps this: Reagan did not endorse Ford when invited to address the convention after Ford had defeated him.

The text of Reagan's speech certainly loses a lot of the glimmer compared to watching it. Go to the 7 minute mark.

Reagan's speech at the 1976 GOP convention.

Let's throw in a Reagan for Ford TV ad while we're at it.

Reagan: "Let's keep him on the Job"
