An in-house writer and longtime friend of the Trump family has stepped forward with an apology for her involvement in the preparation of Melania Trump's speech to the Republican National Convention Monday night, which bore similarities to a Michelle Obama speech.
The staffer, who identified herself in a statement as Meredith McIver, said she submitted her resignation Tuesday but the Trump family rejected it.
“A person she [Melania] has always liked is Michelle Obama. Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech,” McIver said in the statement released this afternoon and written under Trump Organization letterhead. “This was my mistake and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.”
The speechwriter admitted she never crosschecked the address for duplicated lines from the first lady’s speeches.

Trump may see much further ahead than anyone. He may know MSM better than they know themselves. They were baiting him to rush to his wife’s side and say “off limits”.
See the latest news about Bill’s speaking fees? Did MSM know this was coming out? If Trump took their bait (as all other republicans would have), MSM would have slammed him if he started going after Bill saying he had a double standard and was hypocritical.
Since Trump did not respond and let them go on and on. He can say, “Fair game on Bill... you had no issue going after my wife.”

The speech writer offered to resign, not exactly a Hillary like behavioral pattern, but I wish it was!
As far as I know the speech writers explanation is authentic. It seems more plausible than intentionally copying Michelle Obama. What motive is there for "plagiarizing" a list of common platitudes in a particular order? The only other motive I could think of (and did think of last night) was to set Melania up. I feel embarrassed I entertained such a suspicion.

What difference does it make? It’s not like anyone died.
So what if she cited the one or two common sentiments she might possibly share with MO. The set is uncommonly small.
