CLEVELAND -- Republican delegates made history last night voting to make a bold, flamboyant political novice named Donald Trump their party's standard-bearer in what promises to be an epic electoral fight this fall against Democrat Hillary Clinton. Trump, who had flirted with running for president many times before, actually got serious this time and there was no stopping him.

Love that last line.

Trump Jr. sold me last night.

I was begrudgingly voting for him because I’m NeverHillary, but damn if his kids aren’t impressive individuals. That doesn’t happen by chance.

The more you dig into Trump the more impressed you become with Trump himself. He will become one of America's premiere Presidents.

Meanwhile, Ted Cruz keeps reinforcing the realization that he is a very self serving individual. Never has a politician fallen so far so fast sans a scandal. His support is now pretty much limited to the #NeverTrump crowd, and they are officially dead. Yet those are the people he supposedly will be wooing when he speaks at the convention.

Once again Donald Trump is seen as the bigger man, and the right choice made by the people. Not many would allow Ted Cruz a spot to speak at the convention, especially after not honoring the pledge to support the eventual nominee. Ted Cruz has proven by this one act, that he is not a man of his word.

I was not a Trump supporter during the primaries. The primaries are over now and we have a nominee. It is the responsibility of every freedom loving, constitution respecting American to get behind Trump and do all we can to support him.

Contribute money if you can, put up a yard sign, use bumper stickers (plural), contact your local party organization and volunteer your time if you are able. Make phone calls and even engage in the strenuous, frustrating and occasionally embarrassing practice of walking precincts and knocking on your neighbor's doors to encourage them to get off their butts and vote for Trump.

Pretty incredible that an outsider could pull this off. I think he can win.

In a way, I’m thrilled that Cruz self-destructed. As with Jeb, these are people who we don’t want anywhere near actual power in DC. I doubt that Cruz can ever rehabilitate and be trusted by anyone except his most committed inner core of supporters.

I was teading a news article from an Anchorage liberal rag bemoaning the fact that the Alaskan delegates had a majority vote for Trump. Remember Trump lost Alaska in the primary.

How much longer will these folks keep on whing that Trump is inevitable?

Actually I am sorry that he wasn't the real deal, but glad he exposed himself before he was given power. I know you probably share that sentiment, saddened by the fact that he was a poser, and not the real deal.

I honestly do not think he will win reelection to the Senate when his term comes up. We also know why so many Republicans could not stand the man, let alone stand with him. Those that did stand with him may suffer as well. Ben Sasse, Mike Lee, & Ken Cuccinelli come to mind. Sessions always spoke highly of Cruz, but supported Trump. Now we know why that was the case. His relationship with Cruz was borne of political considerations and not one of personal considerations.

According to Levin, Trump is not an outsider because.... he donated money to politicians.

re: Cuccinelli, Sasse, Mike Lee.

With Cruz, I'm hurt and a bit angry about being played, but not totally surprised. There was something almost Shakespearean about his maneuvers to achieve power. But with Cuccinelli, Sasse and Lee, I'm just plain shocked. It does seem they were in it with the Illuminati all along, and didn't take their masks off until the scheme to acquire the nomination fell apart.

I've stated it before. I'm glad that Sessions is staying in the US Senate for awhile. It's reached the point where I'm not sure we can trust any of the others. Maybe Sessions can bring some of them around with President Trump defumigating DC.

Levin is a liar, hoisted on his own petard. He said flat out he would support the nominee. I heard it with my own ears. Now he says by his obtuseness and evasiveness he is NOT supporting the nominee. He is under the delusion it's 1981, he works for Ed Meese and the Republican brand is just peachy. To quote Levin in his vernacular..Hey dummy, the Republican brand sucks, wake up, heellllloo, helloooo. We didn't need Pubbie Pom Pom boys this time, parading out busts of Lee Atwater and Reagan. Trump has effectively rebranded the party, I think enough to win.

Your ideologue Cruz was a throwback, a pontificator and purist tent revival preacher. Levin used to be solid, now he hides behind his evangelical zeal of his own purist ideological religion. He used the line.."We have to not compromise our principals." What does that even mean Mark? You have a choice, Cruz lost, get over it, there is no Reagan. Sorry you are uncomfortable with your Hobson's choice. But my question for Mark L is, do you love the history of this country more than you love your kid's future? The stakes of this election are that dire. So put down the Burke and De Tocqueville books and wake up. Deflate that Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloon sized ego and head of yours and listen to reason. Levin is just being irrational like Hitler in the bunker now.

We welcome your intellect and zeal back in the tent Mark. let's work inside the system as you like to call it, not scream like a maniac on the outside. Is Trump a perfect candidate, oh hell now. But is Trump a pragmatists and will do what works?I know he will. Conservatism works and Trump by hook or crook will be on board. Or Mark you can continue to whine and just be a radio talk show crank, a critic, a purist curmudgeon.

I must have missed that event. I was sure they were still wearing them, only people now clearly see they are wearing a mask.

If anyone was halfway honest, they would be covering this as the most astounding event in modern American political history-—if not all political history-—because of the revolutionary novelty.
