How Trump and the RNC teamed up to stop a delegate revolt
CNN ^ | July 16, 2016 | Tal Kopan

In the end, Never Trump never stood a chance.

Despite plenty of positive media coverage and an active social media and email campaign, the effort to wrest the nomination from presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in the 11th hour fizzled in a Cleveland conference room thanks to an alliance between the ultimate outsider candidate and insider party operatives.

The Trump campaign -- worried about efforts to unbind delegates -- tied itself to the Republican National Committee and their operations prepared to work together, sources involved told CNN.

Good!

Some anti-Trump efforts at the convention would not just have hurt Trump, but the entire Republican brand. Good that most came to their senses and did not allow a few to destroy everything.

This is where a professional like Paul Manafort comes in very handy. This very easily could have gone the way.
Most people have no idea how this ‘inside baseball’ part of politics operates. I know that I don’t.

“could have gone the other way” is what I meant to say.

I think this shows that Trump is a lot more capable, genuinely talented, at handling the workings of Washington then anyone in the media is willing to give him credit for.

Now Trump and the RNC need to deal with those #nevertrump shitheads by stripping them of all credentials, banning them from the convention, and if possible, seek gag orders to prevent them from making unauthorized public statements regarding the internal operations of the Republican Party.

By the looks of that sad puppy Kendal Unruh, she definitely needs a gag. If there is a ‘Mr Unruh’, I pity the fool who married that special snowflake.

I look forward to seeing Trump become president, sweep aside political correctness and really cleanse this country. Of course, he’ll go after the Muzzies. But what people tend to discount is the historic opportunity Trump represents to return America to God and the Constitution.

There are numerous strategies that could be used to dismantle the leftist infrastructure in the bureaucracy, media, entertainment, academia and elsewhere.

We can start by breaking the back of the communist union movement once and for all by banning all public sector unions.

We also could ban tenure in our universities and de-fund every one that refuses to fire known communists, Muslims, and anyone who has published anything anti-Christian or disloyal to the United States. Freed to tenure restrictions that make firing professors impossible, we could unleash college Republicans, student veterans and campus Christian groups to take back our colleges by exposing the rot and rooting it out.

In the media, I see great promise in Trump’s pledge to “open up” the libel laws to allow retaliation against dishonest reports, editors and the “news” outlets they work for. Such people need to be sued into ruin and, in many cases, criminally charged.

We also need to clean house in government. A big step forward would be for Trump to use his executive authority to simply refuse to spend money on anything unconstitutional. Leave the money in the US Treasury until it can be returned to the taxpayers.

We also need to start enforcing treason and sedition laws on the books and pass stronger ones. We are at war, so we should not tolerate anti-American activity of any kind.

It didn’t take any crafty dealings to handle the ‘revolt’. It had the backing of only a few dozen delegates.

The infamous Curly Haugland, for example, has been pushing his personal quirky view of the rules since at least the 2008 cycle, but didn’t get MSM coverage then or in 2012 when he made the same proposals.

That is why, aI think, Priebus saw the light and got with Trump’s people to stop Romney and those other idiots. He has other races to win, and didn’t want the party torn apart by a few big egos.

Just look at the drawing power of Trump vs Romney or Cruz...the turnout at those rallies proved that Trump is the best thing to happen to the Republican party in decades.

It wasn’t so much a teaming up as a moment of clarity for the regular Rules Committee members.

If they allowed the rebellion to succeed in unbinding delegates — before the first vote, they would set a precedent that basically destroys the entire primaries process.

Why bother with primaries if the delegates are free/unbound to vote for whomever they desire?

[Kendal Unruh]

There needs to be a limit on how many times a person can be a delegate. They get too entrenched in the system.

How about the RNC blinked and realized that Trump has grown the party more than any other Presidential Candidate in recent history without their help. They have grabbed at his coattails very late in the game. They had better hold on for dear life and make sure their friends in the media get the message. Any Backstabbing at the convention will run downhill on the ticket very fast.

NeverTrump never stood a chance because it:
Never had delegates
Never had committee members
Never had an alternative candidate
Never had voter support.

They realized he’s got most of the country behind him. They have little choice but to get on board.
