How about the RNC blinked and realized that Trump has grown the party more than any other Presidential Candidate in recent history without their help. They have grabbed at his coattails very late in the game. They had better hold on for dear life and make sure their friends in the media get the message. Any Backstabbing at the convention will run downhill on the ticket very fast.
They realized he’s got most of the country behind him. They have little choice but to get on board.
