A Latin American woman has given birth to a child with Zika-caused microcephaly in Texas, health officials have said. The child was born in Harris County, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services, to a mother who had traveled to America from across the southern border. The woman, who has not been identified, was infected overseas but neither she nor her child are believed to be infectious and officials say there is no risk to the public.

DHS won't comment on the woman's status so I assume the kid is another Zika anchor baby. Taxpayers on the hook for a $1+ MM in health costs.

Most zika cases are from women who in their third trimester are able to fly to america for free healthcare.

I read an alarming report that said that these sorts of birth defects do not actually correlate with zika. That zika has been known for decades and never done this, that the current zika outbreak is far beyond Brazil but only Brazil has seen this, and a medical study showed no real correlation between an increase in defects due to zika.

I wish I could recall the source. If not zika, then what?
