DALLAS -- Almost a week after the Dallas sniper attacks, it's still unclear how the gunman obtained an honorable discharge from the military even though Army officials sent him home from Afghanistan with a recommendation that he be thrown out of the armed forces.

My guess is no one wanted to kick him out. He was a private first class for 5 years
They should be asking why was he recruited.
Tin foil on: doesn’t seem to be working.
He was sent home but not immediately dismissed. 8 months later he is dismissed with an honorable discharge?
I’d like to know what was going on during those 8 months, mental health assessment, mental health reprogramming, what?
I was in the Army from 1973 to 1976, and blacks were routinely given General Under Honorable discharges for the same offenses that got white booted out with Undesirable Discharges, or even sent to the stockade and give Bad Conduct Discharge. For a black to actually get a bad discharge, they had to commit a very serious criminal offense, usually attempted murder, armed robbery or forcible rape.
He’s black and Obama tells his Generals to give them and Muslims special treatment....as long as the blacks aren’t Christian.
Who was this Black Muslim White-Hater’s CINC????
Per the article Johnson’s attorney is now under strict orders NOT to discuss details of case.
On this alone, the man deserves a medal. Imagine our ignorance had he not spoken out. We would be oblivious and the narrative of a Army Reserve Vet, serving 1 tour in Afghanistan, honorably discharged killed 5 officers with a legal firearm.
If I understand correctly, he would not have passed a background check with a less than honorable discharge. Won’t swear to it, but going by what I have read.
Sounds like a standard M112 military charge. Not too expensive and the bang isn’t as big as one might guess. About right for blowing off a car door or a heavy entrance door. The robot survived.
Too bad the military gave up using the “SPN” numbers on DD 214s.
Panty sniffing is normal for those with wide nostrils, ain’t it?
Why his CIC was Bracky Obammy.
My CIC was Dwight David Eisenhower.
Apparently if it’s AP you must excerpt all but the opening sentence.
Excellent point, EBH!
I think the military discharge system has been broken for a long time now. I was in military law enforcement for a while and saw plenty of guys get flat out kicked out for bad behavior and still get “Honorable” discharges.
Really not fair to the people who serve with true honor. It’s broken like everything else in this country.
He never got past E-1 after 5 years? I never heard of this.
From military.com”Johnson was a private first class (E-3) at the time of discharge in April 2015, the Army said....Johnson was a carpentry and masonry specialist with a military occupational specialty of 12W, the service said.”
He was a reservist which means he was serving one weekend a month for a lot of that 5 years.Obviouly the time in trashcanistan was different.
He received a PLEA DEAL...quite common occurrence whether it’s Military of Civilian. Plea Bargain the crime down, do less time. Or in this case an honorable discharge instead of dishonorable for multiple counts of sexual harassment. Race more than likely was a factor. He did more than steal ‘panties’ a juvenile college Frat prank.
True.
It’s a lot less paperwork to just deny the reenlistment than it is to go through all the problems of documenting required to court martial someone.
I had a black woman who worked for me that was a nightmare. Three different supervisors tried to get rid of her over a period of three years. We had a file 3 inches thick of write ups on her. Every time we tried to do something about her failure to repair, AWOL, or many other problems, she would complain to the IG, the EEOC, the NAACP, and her Congressman. We finally just denied her reenlistment and she was forced out.
I have a new hash tag that should be used, it includes all killers.
#execute killers, NOW! and I don’t care by what methods, public hanging sounds great to me like they did in the Wild West. Deters crime.
I got a career enlisted kicked out of the USAR for not following my orders. The CSM came and talked to me and I said I would stick to my charges and statement.
He transferred to the National Guard.
What is not stated is that he failed me before, I personally told him that if he F@@ked me again I would do all I could to get rid of him. He as the senior NCO was literally falling down drunk at the airport. Two Drills later he was gone.
Amazing how after that no one messed with me after that.
