CLEVELAND An impassioned plea by a gay Republican delegate for the party to soften its stance on same-sex marriage failed to sway enough of her colleagues on the Platform Committee, which met Monday a week ahead of the convention to hammer out a statement of the GOPs core principles.
District of Columbia delegate Rachel Hoff identified herself as the first openly gay member on the Republican Platform Committee and struggled to hold back tears as she pleaded with her fellow colleagues to accept a more neutral position on gay marriage...

The GOPs Platform Committee ultimately voted down her proposal to make the party more accepting of same-sex marriage.

A friend of mine who knows this lady wants to make sure we marriage traditionialists know it was overwhelmingly voted down by the GOP platform committee. My friend watched the footage of the platform deliberations on C-Span and saw the episode she pointed out to him.
Here is the C-Span 5-hour GOP Platform Hearing video: http://cs.pn/29LA2vT The question about gay marriage "inclusiveness" is around the 4hr 30 min mark.

We’re not going to endorse evil even if we have a forgiving or even permissive policy towards it. That is the bridge too far.

She may be a Republican delegate, but she’ll be voting for Hillary.

What does it mean that the GOP is not accepting of gay marriage?
I mean, in a practical sense. What will they do, or not do, because they don’t accept it?

Tolerance is never enough. What is she looking for, public repentance that all of us who ever lived were born of a male and a female? Who knows what will ever satisfy them? I’ll tell you: nothing.

I mean, in a practical sense. What will they do, or not do, because they dont accept it? The party platform does not state what the GOP as a party will or will not do. It states how GOP candidates will govern if elected.

If you're a Conservative Republican attending a "church" that condones a false institution in direct contradiction of God's word, it's time to leave it.

What stance? Gay Marriage is already Legal.
The only issue is States Rights versus the Federal Government and the SCOTUS gutted a few Constitutional Amendments to make it happen.

What will they do, or not do, because they dont accept it? Restore our First Amendment Right? I hope.
I would like to make Unity Candles for weddings again. I had to shut that part of my business down because I would refuse to make one for a homosexual pair play acting.
I now just make pretty candles and no special orders.

Nobody should have been complaining about slavery either before it was banned, huh. Or abortion now, or any other evil.

I agree with your point — I would like to see protections for artisans such as yourself. The last thing I want is for both parties to be bearing down against Christians about gay marriage. You should be able to do business with whom you want and not be forced to accept their intrusions into your value system.

People caught in your position have nothing but the deepest sympathy from me.
Maybe marketing a thing commercially isn’t the only way it can be brought to bear as a blessing though. Maybe you could donate special candles to (real) weddings. What you sell may be regulated, but what you give cannot.
