Flynn, 57, a registered Democrat but fierce critic of President Obama, previously ran the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Too bad Norman Schwartzkopf (or Patton) isn’t still alive.
He could pick Daffy Duck and I’d still vote for him. But Flynn sounds like a very interesting choice especially given the problems we face.
Here's part of his speech at the 1992 Democrat National Convention where he endorsed Bill Clinton:
"I know what Dan Quayle means when he says it's best for children to have two parents. You bet it is! And it would be nice for them to have trust funds, too. We can't all be born rich and handsome and lucky. And that's why we have a Democratic Party. My family would still be isolated and destitute if we had not had F.D.R.'s Democratic brand of government. I made it because Franklin Delano Roosevelt energized this nation. I made it because Harry Truman fought for working families like mine. I made it because John Kennedy's rising tide lifted even our tiny boat. I made it because Lyndon Johnson showed America that people who were born poor didn't have to die poor. And I made it because a man with whom I served in the Georgia Senate, a man named Jimmy Carter, brought honesty and decency and integrity to public service."
Yes. He's a YUUUUGE conservative.
He didn't like John Kerry on national defense. That doesn't make him a conservative.
Wow. Interesting, Aunt B. Very interesting.
You’ve got it backwards. Democrats in “Democrat edge” states in the Northeast are even more to the left than usual, and nominal Republicans are closer to average Democrats in other parts of the country.
He’s not even a nominal Republican.
Have you been frozen in time the last 40 years?
You should have recognized that as complete B.S.
A vice president has very few responsibilities in the U.S. government. Trump may need someone who can help him navigate DC and Congress, but it sure doesn't have to be his VP. He can hire anyone as a senior White House advisor to fill that role.
Who would really know?
You have picked a fight you cannot win, Fred.
I have been a declared independent for the past four years (giving up on the Republicans after the Romney fiasco). I vote for the best candidate. I actually think a lot like Trump. What bothers him, and what gets his passion going are the very same issues I'm passionate about.
I'm NOT passionate about the Republican party. Frankly, I'm mostly disappointed and frustrated by the Republican party. Twice they have been given clear mandates, most recently in 2014, and they have fumbled beyond belief. They have actually given Obama EVERYTHING he's pushed in the past seven and a half years. So what's to get excited about?
So, whoever Trump selects (there will be crisiticism galore no matter who he chooses), is okay with me, so long as it is a person who supports the same goals and ideals, and will be willing to take direction from Trump. What leter is after his or her name is of no consequence to me.
My closing argument is: Zell Miller (Google his name if you've forgotten).
That’s what long-time Trump ally Roger Stone has been saying too. Except he’s looked more to the LBJ and Poppy Bush veep models as encouraging insider assassination attempts at overthrow.
Says veep has to be at least as conservative as Trump to keep them honest and him safe.
I’m referring to voters, not politicians. Sometimes conservatives are Democrats, just because that’s what their parents, grandparents, etc. were. But still they are extremely socially conservative.
At this point, really R or D doesn’t make a heck of a lot of difference. Lot of Rs that are scumbags as well. And the fact is, there are plenty of folks who identify as Democrats who don’t like Obama nor Hillary. The problem is the GOP really hasn’t done anything to sway them, because they continually kiss Rat ass.

As to him not being a Republican, I've come to realize that many of the people I thought were Republicans were merely Democrats with an R by their name (Romney, Bush, Ryan).
The parties are realigning. From left vs right to globalists vs nationalist.
Is Flynn a nationalist? I'd rather have a former Democrat nationalist than a Republican in good standing globalist.
Miller was the last of a dying breed.
Sure the GOPe are essentially careerist closet Dems, but non-closet Dems are even worse.
While I’m not enthusiastic about a Democrat being chosen, it’s probably still a better choice than Corker or Newt. Flynn would certainly provide badly needed national security credibility. Interesting times....
as soon as he announces it everyone will say, “What was he thinking” like always
A general is a politician.
Maybe Secretary of Defense.
