Dallas police identified a North Texas man as a gunman responsible for shootings at Dallas protests that left five police officers dead and seven more injured.
Micah Xavier Johnson, of Mesquite, is one of four people police said were responsible for ambushing police officers at a peaceful protest against nation-wide officer-involved shootings in Dallas Thursday.

After 2+ hours of engaging this guy, the police wisely decided to risk no more police lives AND to save Texas taxpayers millions of dollars in prosecuting him and waiting decades before giving him the needle, a far too humane way to go.

Time for the cops to take off the kid gloves. Behaving like morons with cops will only get one killed. When they ask (OK, demand) for one to do something, DO IT! If there is anything untoward during the stop, address it AFTERWARDS. Live to complain another day and not become a martyr.

We have a whole host of mentally ill - usually young men around this age susceptible to schizophrenic breaks that are ripe to find meaning in the causes that divide us.
Psychologically it works much like Jihad - those who seek to divide us along religious, racial, or other tribal lines plant a seed in these meaningless lives that grows to the wrong idea that evolves until they see a meaning to their life by committing murder or violence. Yes, that is a bit simplistic, but it is still a valid explanation of such madness.
People like this are useful dupes to those who preach hate. Both sides of the political spectrum are vulnerable to this insanity (remember McVeigh?). The idea of war within as the answer. We have a President and other political leaders, education system, media, and sub-cultures that divide us for their own benefit, but so few seem to see this. When the irrational idea can live in a bubble of confirmation bias there are a few among us who will act on it. It is all around us and this is sometimes the tragic result.
Sad day for our nation and prayers up for the officers and their families in Dallas.

I think I read that he claimed he had a bomb on him or near him. So in that context using a robo-bomb was to stop a human suicide bomber. If that is an accurate thing I read then it was a judicious use of bomb force.
