So one of these two will be the next Prime Minister - so the second woman in British history.

May supported remain whilst Leadsome supported Brexit.

Leadsome also is socially conservative and has hinted that she want to abolish gay marriage.

Now the Tory members - a couple of hundred thousand will vote to decide the next Prime Minister.

The grassroot members tend to be more eurosceptic than the elite.

UKIP and Farage seems to support Leadsome.

The hope was that if it came down to May vs Leadsome that the grass roots can push forward Leadsome to keep Brexit moving forward.

Yeah, May has ruled out invoking article 50 this year if she wins...

I suspect Gove expected to lose.

His betrayal of Johnson was only to take Johnson out, not to win for himself.

His reward?

Who knows...

I believe they have about two years to invoke it without invalidating the decision. Some hope they do passively ‘run out the clock’.
May seems to have accepted that Brexit will be implemented, but on certain terms. For the first time in a long time, Britain seems to be a World Leader. I know London has always been a leading center for finance. However, this new status is as a leader in social evolution, breaking away from the EU. Very brave thing to do.

I don't see how May can be seriously considered given that she was a "remain" supporter and a big supporter of immigration.

She will drag her feet at every opportunity.

But now that it is just May and Leadsom, perhaps the MP's will start to think this through.

A vote for May is a vote against the will of the people.

Thanks Eurotwit.
May supported remain whilst Leadsome supported Brexit.
IOW, NO to May.
Leadsome also is socially conservative and has hinted that she want to abolish gay marriage.
She won't have the votes for that until the next go-round, when the muzzies switch sides at the ballot box over that very issue.

Really?

Good.

Well, Maybe not for the Mouth Breathing "Life of Julia" types in the Masses.

But that shows she must have great character if the Commie Media doesn't like her and compares her to Sarah.

Short-hand: May is the GOPe candidate who was against Brexit but somehow now is claiming that she’s the one to oversee it.

Leadsom is as close to a conservative as the conservative options out there, having been in business, for Brexit, and against more immigration.

Reportedly a few May backers were with her to make sure that Gove didn’t get it after he stabbed Boris in the back (but for Boris being soft on immigration, which he apparently is).

Let’s hope for the Tory voters’ wisdom and Leadsom’s victory. She could be a nice ally with Trump.

It’s not exactly like that.

The two year clock starts ticking when the UK invokes article 50. It has to then be fully out withing two years.

Right now the only clock ticking is the patience of the public.

Theoretically the next PM and the parliament can ignore the referendum, though naturalman - who seems to know British custom well - says it is extremly unlikely and will cause the Queen the intervene.

The Torie Party would cease to exist if it rejected the referendum. much like the GOP would cease to exist if Trump was denied the nomination

Nigel Farage has tweeted his support for Leadsom while a backer of May calls her a supporter of ‘social justice’.

Farage certainly said a Brexiteer should be the next leader...

Andrea Leadsom’s Ugandan Project Has Ties To An Anti-Gay Christian Group

The Tory leadership contender set up a school exchange programme with a centre co-run by a group whose founder condemned homosexuality as “counterfeit love” and “a sin”.

Would be going against the tide if Britain got a social conservative PM.

Thanks for clarifying.
It did help matters when the Queen came out in favor of leaving. This was too urgent of a matter for her to just be a neutral figurehead; sit quietly and smiling at the cameras with satin gloved hands lying softly on her lap.
