An Iowa pastor, saying the government needs to stop meddling in religious affairs, is at odds with the state over a law focused on sexual orientation and gender identity that he says hinders his First Amendment right to teach on matters of sexuality.
The state of Iowa is not the self-appointed pope of all churches, Cary Gordon, pastor of Cornerstone World Outreach, a nondenominational church with around 900 members in Sioux City, Iowa, told The Daily Signal.

I used to think Iowa was conservative middle-America. Guess I was wrong.
Nope, its the rotting heart of a nation bent on self destruction.
Kansas is still pretty conservative if you get out of the eastern counties. They hate Brownback and are doing all they can to sabotage him.
Iowa was one of the first states to grant marriage licenses to gay. And not on an order from a federal judge.
The goal of the left is to eliminate Christianity, while promoting izzzlam.
Speaking out against the Royalty like this will get his church’s tax exempt status pulled and himself jailed for hate speech.
Had I been told this nation would come to this 50 years ago when I was getting out of High School I would not have believed it.
As Jefferson said;
“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.
Jefferson said that?
Geez just look at their elected reps
They are idiots
Maybe there’s a fungus in the soil out there
I meant Harkin, not Ernst
Maybe there is some enlightenment
I am probably going to catch flak for this; here it is though. I’ve come to realize that if churches don’t incorporate via the state to get tax exempt status they can tell the state to stuff it. Otherwise, by virtue of their incorporation they are an entity of the state and subject to its rules and regulation.
So is he saying his church is not a bona fide religious institution? Because if it is then he doesn't seem to have anything to worry about.
No flak from me - you are spot on. But the moment the churches relinquish tax exempt status is the moment tithes become non-tax deductible. When that happens, a portion of tithing will drop off. Can't have that, now, can we?
:: Cornerstone World Outreach, a nondenominational church ::
Failure #1: claiming to be “non-denominational” does not pass the sniff-test. Of course CWO is part of the modern protestant church and not -in any way affiliated- with the Roman-Catholic church. Say it loud, say it proud! [Really?]
Please! Stop hiding behind a cloak of cultural-ignorance.
Failure #2: challenging the State as “Il Papa” will only get you smacked down on the backside. Prepare thy-self for IRS inquisitions and sundry other “gummint” intrusions likely resulting in the public exposition of (a) improper use of funds or (b) physical exploits among the flock.
As Rush has said, “it isn’t the evidence that convicts you...it is the seriousness of the charge”
“a law focused on sexual orientation and gender identity that he says hinders his First Amendment right to teach on matters of sexuality.
“
NO IT DOESN’T,
When Teaching about “Sexuality” QUOTE FROM THE QURAN, it is close enough to the Bible that you can make it work.
It's full of Democrats. What else should we expect?
I’ll bet he repeated it.
He has no room to talk. He eats the bread.
501C3 tax exempt, this fact already ensures he adheres to a list of approved sermons, and avoids prohibited ones. This is just an upgradde.
