California Marijuana To Cost Just $1 Per Gram After November Ballot

One of the nation’s leading experts on marijuana and criminal justice fears California’s ballot to legalize marijuana could result in plummeting prices and rising rates of marijuana disorder.

Professor Mark Kleinman, an adjunct scholar at the Center for American Progress excoriates the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, which qualified for a November ballot June 28.

The bill allows commercial legalization of marijuana and six plants per household, with no limits on the quantity produced but a ban on sales and advertising to minors. California would impose a $9.75 tax (33 cents per gram) of flowers and a 15 percent sales tax on the retail price on top of the state’s regular sales tax.

Under current NV laws, I believe, with a prescription, a person can grow their own for medicinal purposes. No sharing though. Right...... I’ve already seen some MJ consultant shops gearing up for 1/1/2017. If “Question 2” passes, it will be effective on that date. If I recall, there are supposedly going to be 43 “authorized” locations in the state for selling. Four in Reno/Sparks, a couple remote locations and the majority in Vegas. But it’s currently still a federal offense. It’s all crazy. From what I hear, it sure ain’t the same stuff from back in the dark ages of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.

I think Nevada will and Cal won't

Mostly because agents from Nevada are going to sneak in, sabotage the vote and then Nevada is going to reap that Money Whirlwind just like they do with Alcohol, Cigarettes, Guns, Cars, Gasoline, Food....

You Get the Idea, but the list goes on to 147.

Because Nevada has lower taxes compared to the Peoples Democratic Republic of California.

Fast forward to the year after this law is passed....

“________ * State officials are puzzled by the fact that tax revenue from Weed sales is only 3% of what was expected yet the streets are crowded with stoned people.”

* fill in the blank

>>Will the government be selling to kids, or will they have to get their dope from biker gangs like usual?<<

Button-down businessmen in 3 piece suits. Capitalism will out.

They're legalizing it for that very purpose. Pot smokers are dumb. They might not start out that way, but that's what the drug does.

Tommy Chong's stereotype is spot on.

That’s too much math, Man.

You’ll make their heads hurt with all those numbers, Dude.

That’s why Common Core was invented, Man. So they wouldn’t have to deal with all those numbers, Dude.

I don’t know if the drug cartels can undercut $43 per ounce, or if it’s cheap and easy enough to grow that people will grow their own as well as foster a domestic black market.

I hated it that the article mixed grams and ounces. Sheesh! I had to look up grams per ounce.

People who don’t own land should not be voting.

I guess no one could vote since ownership of land is a farce as long as the government can tax it. You can never really own it, only rent it at a low rate to give the illusion that it is yours.

something below $1 per gram; add to that 33 cents in excise and a 15 percent sales tax... substantially lower than those in Washington State [where it's] $95/ounce.

Sort of like the old "Gas Wars" now we have "Pot Wars" who will survive them?

$28 an ounce? Back in Detroit, in the mid ‘70’s we probably paid 10-12 dollars an ounce. This will start an Acapulco Gold Rush.
