Our organizations and many others have called on Congress to provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with funding for research into the causes and prevention of gun violence. In addition, we published a joint editorial on gun violence in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
These unspeakable acts highlight gun violence as a grim and increasing public health epidemic that kills approximately 91 Americans every day. THIS MUST STOP.

Same geniuses that normalized homosexuality. Physician, heal thyself!
Go to Chicago and talk to those street gangs. And BTW: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2000/07/30/doctors-death-part-one.aspx That’s 225,000 doctor killings a year.
The War on Drugs is the leading cause of gun violence. The WOD creates a black market, with massively inflated prices. Naturally, the people who smuggle and deal in drugs are criminals. They want illicit profits. They join gangs and recruit for gangs. The gangs then fight over drug turf, people willing to kill and willing to die for street corners on which to sell drugs. That violence begets more violence, revenge, jealousy and avarice. The gang members and drug dealers behave violently and this causes the police to be extra vigilant for their own lives, and need superior numbers to shut down drug criminal and their crews (which is itself a futile game of whack-a-mole, take out a corner crew today another crew will be there tomorrow). Then this show of force gives the perception that police are overbearing; and of course causes the gangs to escalate their violence towards cops. Which is another vicious circle.
The WOD is also the main driver for robberies and burglaries.
Of course there are other forms of gun violence but drug money is a major factor both directly and indirectly. There is so much money to be made in it, not only does it instigate loads of violence but invites all kinds of corruption.
New Army doctors will frequently train in inner city hospitals where they can get actual experience with gunshot wounds. Without these where would they get their training.
I agree, so get them from the criminal classes.
Who doesn’t want violence of all types to stop? How do you go about putting an end to it? Answer: you don’t; you only slow it down. Why? Human nature/evil exists in the world.
Here we see typical socialist manipulation,
create a meme, then support it from many angles.
Who would go against the consensus ?
The delphi technique applied to mass manipulation.
The Stalinists did it with farmers to herd them into
collectivization, here we see it applied to disarm
a populace before collectivization.
A free state MEANS a state of FREEDOM, individual FREEDOM.
In related news, Swedish police hand out "Do Not Molest Me" bracelets to little girls in hopes of dissuading Moslems from ...doing what they do.
“...Congress to provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with funding for research into the causes and prevention of gun violence....”
Note that they said “the APA and other groups” and the “other groups” were not specified .... could be parking lot attendants.
Also note that these supposed highly educated “professionals” (professionals is very loosely used with APA) are contacting the CDC who cannot even competently control Zika, Ebola, or immigrants coming into the country with TB, measles, Enterovirus 68, various STDs, whooping cough, HIV/AIDS, etc.
Maybe the CDC should do their job and the APA and “other groups” should stick to their professions and try to kill less of their patients.
You are right. This group published a lengthy "editorial" which repeats every liberal talking point on firearms, including "Although current laws require background checks at gun stores, purchases at gun shows do not require such checks" and " 40% of firearm transfers take place through means other than a licensed dealer." Both claims are factually untrue.
And, even though they are in an industry committed to relying on scientific studies and data, and even though they know the data doesn't support them:
"Although evidence to document the effectiveness of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 on the reduction of overall firearm-related injuries and deaths is limited, our organizations believe that a common-sense approach compels restrictions for civilian use on the manufacture and sale of large-capacity magazines and firearms with features designed to increase their rapid and extended killing capacity."
Grab your barf bag, here is their editorial
One of the APA groups is the American Psychological Association, whose membership is composed primarily of individuals who have a PhD, Ed.D. or a couple of other sets of alphabet. They are Board certified in the field of mental health but cannot prescribe psychotropic drugs there is a state law permitting them to do so and they have received specific training in that field. Generally do psychotherapy, psychological testing and research.
The other APA group is the American Psychiatric Association, composed primarily of psychiatrists who have an M.D. degree. All the psychiatrists I have ever worked with are also members of the AMA. They generally do the meds portion of treatment, although this is being taken over by Primary Care Physicians, to a great extent.
".
.well aah...ahh...err..that didn't work out like we figured..can we get 200 hospital laundry workers ...no nah ahhhh...too many illegal Somali's....let's start up AF ONE"
Not only the craziest of all doctors, but the craziest of professionals, period.
Perhaps these doctors should go work someplace where the government has effectively reduced gun crime by its citizens to zero, namely North Korea.
I agree with all of these organizations. Since these doctors are well educated, and caring, they will begin their work in Chicago. Then Gary IN., Newark NJ., etc.
Not Congress.

A family friend had her 12 year old son in for a routine physical last week and the doctor asked him (The 12 year old) if there were any guns or firearms in the home. My friend was livid.
Last time they all got together was to endorse the miracle known as Obamacare.
