Our organizations and many others have called on Congress to provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with funding for research into the causes and prevention of gun violence. In addition, we published a joint editorial on gun violence in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
These unspeakable acts highlight gun violence as a grim and increasing public health epidemic that kills approximately 91 Americans every day. THIS MUST STOP.

Gun Violence is Funded by the Government’s War on Poverty
Maybe if they start a Twitter campaign....
There is no such thing as “gun violence” only people violence. Stop using their terms.
Do we blame machetes for the 600,000 people killed in Rwanda?
Same geniuses that brought you Obamacare
Doctors...Your sincerity would be more authentic if you just said “Violence” needs to stop....
TPP requires no citizen of the signatories to be able to own weapons.
These unspeakable acts highlight motor vehicle violence as a grim and increasing public health epidemic that kills approximately 92 Americans every day. THIS MUST STOP.
Ther fixed it.
“And how many babies have been legally killed since Roe v Wade ????”
Maybe if a gun was used, then EVERYBODY would be upset.
I’m sure they’ll call next for knife control.
Inanimate objects like guns and knives are like Steven King’s Christine.
They have a mind of their own. Liberal Logic 101.
Your post and link —excellent, thank you.
To the APA and others:
Mind your own damn business!
The doctor sitting beside me right now just bought a DP12. LOL
100% of gun laws are unconstitutional. Every one. If the US government doesn’t think the people can be trusted with 50 caliber machine guns and other kinds of weapons it has banned, that is the government’s problem. The people have a God-given right to all the firepower the government has.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists supports legal abortion, and some of their members may do that kind of work. Needless to say the loss of life from that kind of medical procedure is not included in the totals.
Having your life ended by a doctor is much more likely than having your life ended by someone using a firearm.
Psychiatrists?
Good point - the number of deaths from medical errors is surprisingly large. Instead of lecturing the rest of us about safety they should work on their own practices.
Psychiatry always had just the slightest whiff of quackery about it, but ever since they removed the various paraphilias, like homosexuality, from the DSM for purely political reasons, their “science”, at least at the organizational level, has lost all credibility. No doubt these physicians groups also don’t represent all physicians, but merely are populated by administrative do-nothing left-wing nutbags who have more allegiance to Marxism than psychiatry or medicine in general.
According to the guy reporting news tonight in Houston, who was talking about all the murders and shootings in Chicago, all they need to do is teach conflict resolution skills in the public school system.
GOOD GRIEF!
Apparently they don’t teach them in Houston either because our murder/shooting incidence rate has really escalated.
