James Comey Just Became the Most Powerful Person in America
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/01/2016 6:10:05 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Who’s even more powerful than the king? The person who gets to pick the king. And as of this morning that person is, quite possibly, FBI Director James Comey.

Today’s Morning Joe reported breaking news from the New York Times: Attorney General Loretta Lynch has decided that she will accept the recommendation of the FBI regarding its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails. If Comey recommends against an indictment of Hillary, that would lift a huge cloud that has been dragging her candidacy down. It would put Hillary in a very strong position to become the next president. But should Comey recommend the indictment of Hillary, her candidacy would effectively be destroyed. Dems might scramble to replace her as their candidate, but in any case Donald Trump would be well-positioned to win the election.

I have thought along the same lines you raise. Although I think it would take much longer for a special prosecutor to get up to speed than you suggest. I’ve actually wondered if this whole meeting with Clinton was staged for exactly this outcome. Did the reporter who asked the question about the airplane meeting get an anonymous tip to ask this question? If the question was really “out of the blue”, the attorney general sure seemed to have a quick response ready to give. It would be a good way to kick the can down the road until after the election.

Frankly, this could (underline “could”) be a very bright move on the part of the dems, giving the appearance of probity to those unthinking morons who’d normally vote for Hillary but might otherwise be put off by appearances of high level impropriety. Five will get you ten Bill suggested she do this.

Comey will present the evidence and more than likely recommend charges be filed. That would lead to a grand jury hearing the evidence and then indicting or issuing no bill. Based on the NSA disclosure, the case against Hillary is open and shut. She’ll be indicted then tried and convicted.

She won’t be in the race when the Democrat convention opens. she’ll take the deal (pardon) and skedaddle.

-- A presentation to a grand jury is simply a prosecutors assessment the information at hand warrants a review by a grand jury to determine if there is a sufficiency of evidence to go forth to a trial, nothing more. --

Another way to look at a GJ is that it is a formality, sometimes a mandaoty one under the law, where the prosecutor gets a group of citizens to agree with the prosecutor that the case should go to trial.

-- In this case it is probably a special grand jury convened with its members being employees of the clinton crime family foundation! --

Whether they are on the GJ or not, they know who is. Still, taking the investigation to a GJ is a discretionary act, which can be avoided completely by the prosecutor. "Not even enough evidence to bother a GJ" if the desire is to whitewash the case.

After that, the prosecutor just has to weather the public objection, which always dies out over time. Deny, delay, distract works, every time it is practiced by a determined crew who holds the levers of power.

-- It all depends on what the meaning of the word 'accept' is. --

That was Judge Janine's take too. Prosecutors always accept the case file from the police. And in a white collar crime, the police don't recommend anything in the way of prosecution, although Lord knows they have an opinion.

I agree...but this may be spinning out of control for them. I think the trannys in the military announcement was made early and supposed to be a distraction from the Phoenix Phix. There are some honest democrats out there...and they know people don’t have meetings on tarmacs to discuss grandchildren.

Her entire campaign is like Weekend at Bernies, with everybody trying to prop her up. At some point they might give up.

There are better odds on the sun turning black tomorrow morning than of Hillary ever being indicted. there is a chance that both or either could happen, but the odds of even one of them happening are astronomical.

CNN coverage now:

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/01/politics/lynch-to-accept-guidance-from-fbi-on-clinton-email-probe/

This does put the MSM in a quandary because the colloquial job of reporters is to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable. And Bill Clinton looks like he is having a very comfortable time now, between golf, jet setting, and meeting with the Fed AG as a private person, with FBI and SS agents crawling around banning cell phones and cameras...
If this coverage was planned, it was a lousy plan IMHO...

Who's to say that Comey isn't in the pocket of the clinton crime syndicate, and the Grand Jury, especially if chosen from the DC area, is certainly in question.

Remember when everyone thought Trey Gowdy's Benghazi "investigation" would result in action, instead of just bureaucratic smokescreen?

You don’t need to. You just tell the media and libtards that they are partisan leftovers from the Bush years or right-wing ideologues who just can’t accept the truth. Libtards and media scream “YES!” and then keep going as if nothing happened.

Lefties can explain away anything, because they have no self-respect or scruples.

Not to worry, it will be the usual slap on the wrist justice for those who are above the law. Don’t get your hopes up, the Clintons will walk and take their $$$$$ with them. Its a DC insider operation.

The Clinton-Lynch meeting looks like a disaster for Comey in that, if Comey, whom I don’t believe is not as clean as it’s being said he is, chooses to recommend against prosecution, then it will be charged that he was gotten to while, if he moves to prosecute, he’s moving against one of the most dangerous, ruthless crime families in the country.

Everyone that goes up against the Clintons either winds up dead or in jail. Now the highest Cop in the US holds the cards. Will he play the hand? It will mean the end of his career. Although he will be a hero, the Democratic run press will crucify him. The Democrats under Obama have destroyed the lives of more whistleblowers than all other administrations combined because they will not tolerate anyone exposed their corruption and lawlessness. Comey is a good honest man. If he rules for an indictment, his family will be in danger, the Democratic press will drag him through the mud, Democrat households will brand him as a traitor against the Democrats. I can only hope that Lynch and Clinton have not found a chink in Comey’s armor and are not exploiting it now to get away with their crimes. Its time for Bill and Hillary to pay the piper for their sins. And for this country to be healed. And the healing will be when those two are taken away in handcuffs, and those who supported that corruption are reduced to trash maintenance in the state parks.

Comey doesn’t and can’t control the outcome.

Right, but he is still the one on the hot seat.

He either recommends an indictment or he doesn't. He will be either a patriot or traitor, there's no in between.

There is not one chance in 10,000 that the US government will indict Hillary. Not while Democrats and the Uniparty are firmly in control!

Only if you are gullible enough to believe that Lynch meant what she said, which I don't believe.
