Democrats aren't happy about the "wrong signal" telegraphed by a private meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch who's overseeing the probe into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server and Bill Clinton.
In a rare rebuke of the presumptive nominee by a member of her own party, Delaware Democratic Sen. Chris Coons sharply criticized the meeting between the prosecutor and former president.
"I don't think it sends the right signal," he tells CNN's "New Day" program in an interview Thursday. "I think she should have steered clear even of a brief, casual, social meeting with the former president."
David Axelord, a former adviser to both Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama, was even more pointed, calling the meeting "foolish."
Lynch has explained she and the former president talked about grandchildren, and described the meeting as "primarily social."
She also denied discussion the email probe or House Benghazi panel's investigation, which was released the day after their meeting.
Another ex-adviser to Bill Clinton, pollster Doug Schoen, tells Fox News the former president "was in his own way taking the temperature of the attorney general, not alleging that there was any impropriety."
But, he adds, "given the timing, this was a meeting that probably best shouldn't have been held."
Coons, as well, said he thinks Lynch "has generally shown excellent judgment and strong leadership of the department, and I'm convinced that she's an independent attorney general."
"But I do think that this meeting sends the wrong signal," he asserted.
Two other top Democrats rushed to Lynch's defense.
"No one can ever question [Lynch's] strong feelings about the rule of the law. And her ethics, I repeat, are the best," declared Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Politico reports.

It’s probably too late to subpoena her scheduling book.
She has already lost it, or the erasers have ruined that page!
Dingy Harry vouches for Lynch, eh? Now THERE’s a paragon of truth if there ever was one; right up there with the Dissembler-in-Chief himself.
Hurry up, President Trump. Our Country can’t endure much more of this shameless lying and treason by the libs; of BOTH Parties.
All have been bred on "artificial rules" of progressivism, seldom consulting or caring about what they might consider the "old" virtues, substituting the Clintonian "what the meaning of 'is' is" for common sense, integrity and Constitutional fidelity!
Consider Jefferson's observation:"State a moral case to a ploughman and a professor. The former will decide it as well, and often better than the latter, because he has not been led astray by artificial rules. - Thomas JeffersonThe judgments expressed by these political hacks proves Jefferson's wisdom.
A rectal thermometer?? LOL. Considering this is Bill Clinton alone with a woman, he may have taken her temperature in another area...............
Well if Harry says its OK, then that's that.....Or maybe Bill gave Harry his swiss bank account number on the same Arizona/Vegas trip.
Another poster here suggested that maybe L. Lynch did it deliberately, wants an excuse to recuse herself so that somebody else can dismiss the charges against Ms. Hillary.
It’s election time. Coons has been hibernating for 5 1/2 years. NOW he wakes up to sucker the voters and then he’ll go back to sleep.
"The only real security of liberty, in any country, is the jealousy and circumspection of the people themselves. Let them be watchful over their rulers. Should they find a combination against their liberties, and all other methods appear insufficient to preserve them, they have, thank God, an ultimate remedy. That power which created the government can destroy it. Should the government, on trial, be found to want amendments, those amendments can be made in a regular method, in a mode prescribed by the Constitution itself [...]. We have [this] watchfulness of the people, which I hope will never be found wanting." - James Iredell, Elliot, 4:130. Iredell appointed by President Washington to First Supreme Court.
If it were only that easy. If this were to happen Whoever will replace Lynch will indict. There is an immovable force behind the FBI who will win the battle of the wills. The deck is stacked against them.
Well, a BJ wasn’t considered sex by BC, so I imagine he has the same thoughts about anal probing.
“Sending the wrong signal”
I’m sure the intended signal was sent and received clearly.
The problem isn’t “signals”, it is omnipresent, all-consuming government corruption that is the problem. And it has been turned into a fine art by none other than Clintons.
I don’t see how Lynch can be involved in a civil FOIA case between Citizens United and the State Department.
Signal is that they’re corrupt, amoral, treasonous vermin.
Key phrase there, "per the law". That the trigger for raucous laughter! Bwahahahahahaha. Ha.
This is a CYA move by the dems because they got caught. We all know what went on in that meeting. You gotta be some kind of special idiot to think otherwise.
Lynch must answer the question...
“Who threatens her life more - the “Butcher of Benghazi” or Comrade Obamatollah?
Based on the way the Dem usual suspects are mildly criticizing the meeting (instead of their ‘to the battlements’ standard response), the news leak had to be intentional.
LL will resign and Obungo will say an important decision like this must be made by a Senate-confirmed AG. Graham, McCain, Collins, Flake, etc. will agree.
Bill caught up with LL as a last ditch attempt to talk her out of seeking an indictment. It failed, so Bill’s Plan B was to blackmail LL into resigning as a stalling tactic.
Obungo is on board. If Hitlery’s polls collapse, he’ll insist on Biden as nominee; if her polls hold up, he’ll pardon her after the election - if she wins. If she loses, he’ll wash his hands of the matter.
The situation DOES send the right signal. That signal is that we have a corrupt government of criminals.
