Ted Cruz slides in poll, leaving Greg Abbott king of the Texas GOP

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s poll numbers have slid in the aftermath of his unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for president, according to the new University of Texas/Texas Politics Project poll released Monday, leaving Gov. Greg Abbott far and away the most popular Republican in the state.

Abbott has an 11 percentage-point approval margin among the general electorate — calculated by taking those who like what he’s doing minus those who don’t — and a 65 percentage-point net approval rating among Republicans. Cruz has a 39-point net approval margin among Republicans, but, among the broader electorate, he has an approval margin of -18 points.

That’s the biggest deficit for the big-name Republicans the Texas Politics Project named in the survey...

Obviously, I know far more about how the people of Texas feel about Teddy, than they do ! heheheheheheheheh

Ain't that special. Tell us more...Maybe you know something about the younger generation of Texans who have inherited the mess prior generations have caused.

I guessing you are long on tooth or a follower. You can't bring yourself to like Senator Cruise because you are following the old ways of those who have been complacent and allowed America to fall into the terrible mess it is today. This is no longer acceptable. Ted is young and a leader representative of a new generation of conservative Texans. Stop dissing him and the current generation who want to have the freedom to elect new leadership and choose for themselves.

Look around and note that most everyone in this government is long on tooth and global socialists. Only a small portion of them are representative of their constituents age, issues, and needs. They want the same things you do and Ted relates to them much better than you know.

I respect your opinion but I do not agree with you about Cruse or Rubio. Let the current generation play a part in the leadership of a renewed America.

That right there tells you everything you need to know about those two guys - how much more back-stabbing establishment can you get?

Your petty disagreements on a couple of issues are no basis for kicking them out of the Senate in favor of some lessor candidate, likely to lose to the Dem

I am having trouble finding a difference between R and D. A pubbie judge just blew raspberries at the Contstitution and will still be on the bench tomorrow. Hillary was handed another get out jail free card because Trey couldn't simply say something like "an overwhelming amount of evidence and testimony implicate many of the Obama admin including former Secretary Clinton". But noooooo. Mention of scary Tee shirts has the esteemed committee chair cowering like a b/&$h! Sorry for the expletive. It's just so frustrating to not hear someone tell the dang truth about the witch.

Good, and expected. He’s only popular as a cult leader.

Please FRiend, don’t gloat. It is not a virtuous characteristic.

Many came to realize Ted was a RINO doosh on a different calendar than you, but the realization came all the same.

"...but I do not agree with you about Cruse..."

If you're a Texan, you'd know how to spell Lyin' Ted CRUZ's name.

I would gladly trade you a Bobby Menendez and I will even throw in an Obama look alike Cory Booker for that slightly RINO Ted Cruz you guys have

I can even throw in a 23 cent gas tax hike in as well
(Our worthless politicians raised it because NJ was 2nd from the bottom in gas tax and the money grubbers just couldn’t resist)

FRiend, calling Cruz or Rubio “great Americans”, at this stage and knowing what we now know, is laughable.

The threat Lyin’ Canadian Ted poses is a chance to get into the White House and consolidate the Establishment power in the Presidency.

Your suggestions will never pose that threat.

The good news, Lyin’ Ted was exposed as the fraud he was and still is.

NJ is a socialist hellhole...you need to emigrate to America.

Frankly, I don’t trust the “current generation”, who seem mostly concerned with The Gibs.

Ironic how the gas tax was posed and passed to coincide with a reduction in sales tax.

Only....the gas tax takes effect immediately....the sales tax reduction won’t happen for another THREE years, if I heard correctly :- /

Your petty disagreements on a couple of issues are no basis for kicking them out of the Senate in favor of some lessor candidate, likely to lose to the Dem.

We will have no America left if left to your “Screw the GOP and teach ‘em a lesson” approach prevails.

Amen and amen.

Look guys, Trump does not waste anything or anyone without good reason to do so. Personal issues with Trump aren't a reason to him.

That said, i wouldn't look for Cruz to run for re-election. The reason for that is simple: He will be President Trump's Attorney General of the US.

Notice that Trump isn't doing or saying anything about Cruz? The reason for this is simple as well. He's letting Ted get the loss out of his system so that he can go take care of business later in the Trump Administration.

“Petty disagreements on a couple of issues”...surely you jest. Ted is all about Ted, is a liar, supported very, very bad legislation and showed himself as being an open borders, establishment tool. Just....go....away....and take Rubio with you. Yes, they are both better than democrats, but there are other republican candidates that are better than them.
