Ted Cruz slides in poll, leaving Greg Abbott king of the Texas GOP

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s poll numbers have slid in the aftermath of his unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for president, according to the new University of Texas/Texas Politics Project poll released Monday, leaving Gov. Greg Abbott far and away the most popular Republican in the state.

Abbott has an 11 percentage-point approval margin among the general electorate — calculated by taking those who like what he’s doing minus those who don’t — and a 65 percentage-point net approval rating among Republicans. Cruz has a 39-point net approval margin among Republicans, but, among the broader electorate, he has an approval margin of -18 points.

That’s the biggest deficit for the big-name Republicans the Texas Politics Project named in the survey...

It’s no wonder he is where he is. He swore an oath and violated that oath. He has lied repeatedly to the American people. Thus, has proven he is unethical and therefore not a Conservative.

His mask fell off.
We saw him for what he really is, a shyster lawyer trying to play the rubes for fools.

They sent me a million (okay, maybe about ten) emails to please sign the DocuSign attachment...or the fax form, allowing cRuz to use my funds towards his Senate run. I think I finally got my message through to them ;-)

You’re right. But our family would still vote for Cruz again as Senator. Have not and would not pull the lever for George P. or Dewhurst. We are being overwhelmed by the gazillion people coming across the border plus all the libs in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin and the likes of Cornyn, Pete Olson and state senator Taylor.

I’d prefer he continue NOT to endorse Trump and keep sliding into obscurity. Why should he velcro himself to Trump to get his needed bump? NO bump! Just melt away Ted, just like the wicked witch of the west.

Yep just like papa Cruz who didn’t become a nauralized citizen until 2005.

Will you guys give it up?

You all seem to believe we either need 536 Trumps or Trump as King.

All of this “BOO Cruz” and “BOO Rubio” crap is NOT what America needs.

They are great Americans and each are better than ANY Democrat.

Your petty disagreements on a couple of issues are no basis for kicking them out of the Senate in favor of some lessor candidate, likely to lose to the Dem.

We will have no America left if left to your “Screw the GOP and teach ‘em a lesson” approach prevails.

Cruz doesn’t need to be King of the Texas GOP. He just needs to win renomination. Who out there could reasonably challenge him?

Texas hasn't elected a statewide democrat since 1994 and won't for sometime. That
will change in the future as more and more keep pouring across the border and
becoming citizens.

He should have politely endorsed Trumps weeks ago.

Although George Bush greatly insulted Ronald Reagan with his “voodoo economics” remark, Uncle Ron forgave him and (unwisely) picked him as his running mate.

Cruz needs to endorse Trump.
